Just my opinion...
Give people more 'benefit of the doubt' when online. You don't see them so it can be very easy to misjudge/miss-interpretate their comments.
there's no mistaking some of the things you or foxy have said. Name one.

Whilst I can quite understand what Bell Bottoms and others are saying, let's not lose sight of the fact that on a forum such as CWDF any ill intent or questionable remarks directed at the newly joined will always be disguised under layers of the sort of site owner/moderator approved hypocrisy that characterizes the place, and the people who post there.
Distasteful and stupid, or perhaps simply misunderstood, as some remarks and posts on here sometimes are, . . I would personally much rather have everything, including some people's rather skewed ways of seeing the world, out in the open and being responded to in an appropriate fashion.
Don't be put off posting here, Bell Bottoms, . . and if someone gets up your nose, then let them know about it, and give back every bit as good as you get !

Hi Dogless. I found this forum last week after putting canal forum into google and saw so many postss that made me laugh out loud, however after introducing myself I’ve had nothing but abuse for no reason from a certain poster. Its only been a PM from a forum member explaining the like of that certain posters trying to insert their authority. I was going to stop being part of this forum last week, a day after joining, after being abuses as I was. A certain poster on here ( whos now on ignore after I got a pm from a friendly poster telling me how) need to realise this forum will die if they continue with their attitudes Many of us thought this too, hence piling in to say so. Have you been listening, naughtyfox ? I make my own assumptions based on my own experience. There are some malevolent and vindictive people on Thunderboat, it appears - not to mention their creepy virtue-signalling. Still... benefit of the doubt an' all that... 'Bell Bottoms' is free to write about anything she has to say about anything...... I notice she posts in the middle of the night, so perhaps she can find a friend in the chap who also posts in the middle of the night who shares her attitudes.

not been on anything like as much just recently ...... many reasons but the not very pleasant atmosphere on occasion contributed. I do use the ignore option, nearly all on it are "historic posters" such as Emma who I don't think we have seen for a long time (thank goodness) The ones that go on it have got to be posters who needs a red warning to remind you of what they are like so you can decide to read or not. If it wasn't for the fact that I have met Ross and Pirkko (in fact stayed they with me when I was in Benfleet) and know him as a generous and nice man and very different from his internet persona, he would have joined that list a good while ago. On occasion he becomes too extreme and I have had a go at him about it. Swearing on the forum is only occasionally a problem and particularly so when very strong language is being used, I think many of us use very strong language when extremely stressed but just bloody swearing all the time can be a real bugger edit ...... must stop talking to Yoda as much ..... catching it can be

To be fair to Foxy: I know some find his humour (many of his posts are in at least semi-jest) oversteps their mark but without him this forum probably wouldn't exist any more.

(in fact they stayed they with me when I was in Benfleet) We were feeling generous and didn't murder you in your own bed

Am I extreme? I consider myself to be run of the mill, just an ordinary man. I just can't stand virtue-signalling creeps and hypocrites. They get so angry when they are exposed. Like everyone who shouts "No borders!" but lock their front doors at night.

I try to be fair with Ross ....... I know I can be a bit stuffy and old fashioned in some ways and sometimes some of the things he posts I find unpleasant. It's fair to say, I believe, that some of his posts, when read by someone who does not have knowledge of what he is really like, could be highly offensive. Most of us who have been here a while will just say to ourselves "it's Foxy having a rant" and move on ..... but to someone who has just joined ......

What a load of tosh, a forum is never just one person. It has become like the foxy show around here, but that's because he's pissed off a lot of people. The question to ask yourself is, what would the forum be like with out Ross? I expect it would have more memebers who contribute regularly. For clarity I have no problem with foxy exspressing or holding his views, but crayoning unrelated drivel over almost every thread is just rude, boring and arrogant. I find the casual racism that he spouts to be very offensive, remember there is only one memeber who's posts have almost got the forum shut down. Now I wonder who that was?

I think the problem with foxy is he's mistaken this forum for his own personal blog.

On the other hand he has spent a fair amount of time promoting the forum. Also, when nobody else bothers to post anything, Foxy will often step in.
There are thousands of forums out there 'last posting 7 days ago'. Thankfully, this isn't one of them.

How many people has he put off posting? I'm not going to get into bashing foxy it's too easy.I wouldn't want him to stop posting, some people obviosuly like what he posts. Maybe he should have his own thread so people who want to can read his racist drivel and those that don't can avoid it.

Unwelcome to Romans sock puppet. Just because some one doesn't use their real name doesn't mean it's a sock puppet, I mean look at you.
