My education, which I discovered I had paid for myself (!), was a waste of money. Private schooling is nonsense bullshit.
I got out of there asap and never did my A levels.

In my experience the 'chip' is only evident if you ask a Canadian "Are you from the USA?" or a New Zealander "Are you Australian?". Get the nationality right from their accent at the outset and they positively beam. Rog The quick Canadian / American test is to ask them to say 'about'. If the response is 'aboot' you have a Canadian.

Private schooling is nonsense bullshit. Can’t agree, I’m afraid my daughter was privately educated from age 6-16 and she’s turning out brilliantly. Her confidence and work ethic are superb. She was an average pupil in school but has blossomed in Uni.

I won a 'free place' at a fee paying school in Chester & I turned out just fine(I hope). The school wasn't all about education-they gave me a good work ethic, good social skills & the chance to mix with a wide variety of folk & their families.I wasn't from a well to do family & enjoyed visiting a friend's small castle in Scotland amongst other posh places. My parents could never have afforded the fees,so I really was lucky.

My 4 went to a Community College..2 did brilliantly but the other 2 were withdrawn from the school due to 'issues'

This place can be quite amazing ... unless you want to find a thread which contained specific posts. How the hell did we reach the advantages and disadvantages of private education from where this thread started ? And by the way, I went to grammar school, but in my first year it converted into a comprehensive ... must have been something I said Rog
