I did listen to a programme where they discussed the concept of money becoming 'virtual currency' similar to bitcoins...apparently they though within the next 40 years or so 'cash' will cease to exist... I suppose we r moving rapidly towards a cashless society. I don't think Id cope very well as now I try not to use card payments as I'm worried I'll be scammed

The idea is too big brother for my liking and though I'd admit it's convenient and hard to resist swiping my card to buy things, in the round cash offers anonymity. This is a basic freedom we've all been used to. You don't have to be doing anything untoward to wish to be anonymous. Right now I could get in my camper, drive 100 miles, buy fuel, food and drink, pay the campsite and drive home and nobody would know (though I might have to take the back roads). Without cash there would be a paper trail of my pastime, food and drink preferences, time of arrival at campsite for starters. Does it matter? probably not but it doesn't seem right.

I suppose it might make it harder for criminals until they work round it. For me..i just feel that cards etc are open to scamming and also it tracks what u do. but i suppose thats the way the world is going

I haven't, apart from by my electric supplier who charged me full rate for economy 7 for 20 years, I got that back after 3 months of phone calls but only when I threatened to contact the police fraud squad and they knew they recorded every conversation. Never by a "criminal" though...for a given value of "criminal".

We bought 31 litres of diesel today, to fill up our tank. For our very important Christmas trip. 'Prince' William and his dreary flat-chested wife wouldn't get away with it, but they have bribed a lot of people to protect them. ' Mrs Fox and her boring small-dicked husband ..................'
how does it feel? ................. sometimes usually you can be an unnecessarily obnoxious git.

Cameras track you. Your mobile phone shows where you are and who you've contacted. The 'authorities' can access your bank details and see how often you've been withdrawing £200 from the hole in the wall. And they know your medical history.
However, there are no photos of my 'privates' anywhere on the Internet, so bodger-badger is just making a wild guess.

I see commuters in London are starting to let the ER mob know how they feel this morning. One 'poor' protester was forcibly dragged from the roof of a tube train on the Jubilee Line and left in no doubt about how people felt about their 'protest' and its effects on the lives of ordinary people going about their daily lives. I think its likely we will see more of this. www.cityam.com/tube-delays-city-commuters-face-rush-hour-chaos-on-dlr-and-jubilee-line/

Many people pointing out why would they target the tube, one of the 'cleanest' forms of mass transport in London. Idiots.

William is big enough to kick you in the crotch - for all you know he surfs the web and has picked up your comment. Go for it, Wills !

Regretfully several times which has made me quite a worrier..I check and double check stuff and have set up stuff the fraud squad recommended..dunno if it protects but at least I feel as if Ive done what I can.

Like rats fighting in a cardboard box. Extinction Rebellion leaders bask in the limelight whilst their minions get punched in the mouth for doing the dirty work.
As has been pointed out, at least they are bringing the issue into our daily thoughts. But most people just carry on driving their cars and boats, and filling their shopping trolleys to the brim, and getting plastered on prosecco. Time to start looking for our Christmas flights! A trail of burnt kerosene descends across Sweden from Stockholm to Göteborg as the Witch and the Fox fly off on another holiday!

Never by a "criminal" though...for a given value of "criminal". SWMBO got caught out on this one www.theguardian.com/money/2012/feb/17/free-skin-cream-trial-victimsit seems that if you click on 'send free sample' and give them your credit card details to cover the postage you are deemed to have read the terms and conditions that state that by clicking you have agreed to a recurring payment plan on your credit card for monthly supplies of a skin cream at £80/month (which apparently sometimes don't arrive). Some banks won't cancel the plan at your request - the request has to come from the seller who can never be contacted. Yesterday the missus called M&S Bank and said she would close her account unless the bank cancelled the plan - they confirmed they would do so - we will see.

................................ the Witch and the Fox fly off on another holiday! is she flat-chested? ......... just askin' I took a photo at a lock yesterday, in which she appears, so you can judge for yourself when I put the photos up here in a week or two. But she does use her own money to buy her frocks, unlike William's grasping wife.
