I just can't get over the incompetence of a system where a driver fills up with fuel, enters it in his daybook, but doesn't need to record the mileage. Mileage is recorded every day at the end of the day in that daybook too. I don't think anyone ever bothers to check that because it's like you filling your car up. Do you make records of each trip and how much fuel you have put into your car every filling? And what can you make of that all? Nothing - it's all irrelevant. Your fuel bill each year is going to be roughly the same unless there are big changes. On the other hand, perhaps I'm looked upon as honest and trustworthy - and you are not? Badger the Pilferer. Arise Sir Knight! if your employer doesn't believe they should be able to audit the use/abuse of fuel they are as daft as you. if your employer doesn't believe that such records will protect the honest employees and condemn the dishonest employees then they are as daft as you. twat!

Having employees like me helps Who would have thought that 'vapid gobshite' was such a valuable skillset?

I'm sure they do, but as I said, I don't work at Head Office but at the coal face. They don't phone me up every hour to ask how much I've used since they last phoned, if that's what you're getting at.

I just can't get over the incompetence of a system where a driver fills up with fuel, enters it in his daybook, but doesn't need to record the mileage. He doesn't really need to, if he fills up at the beginning or end of the shift then the company can easily reconcile the fuelling with the mileage on the tachograph download, if his vehicle is fitted with one.

Talking of professional drivers. This bridge in Romsey, hampshire is around the corner from where I went to school. This pic is today, this bridge gets constantly hit. And I mean constantly. There are massive signs and massive flashing amber lights, yet these professionals still manage to hit it. And has been for as long as I remember. Because of the damage they have put a bar but the bridge is at an angle so every time they tip up into someone's garden. Buses haven't been immune either.

I would imagine that buses only ever refuel at their home depot so this would almost inevitably be at the beginning or end of shift.

No - we can fill anywhere. In my case at any garage belonging to the company, or at any 'Neste' fuel station. Badger's just being silly. If he wants to look at unaccountable wastage, how about Britain's 'international aid' ?
