In the event that most threads on here today seem "bonkers" - I thought I'd share something "boat related for a change"... It's winter and therefore I'm tied up (with the luxury of Shoreline AND a tap within 20 metres) doing maintenance chores etc. (loving being able to use the immersion heater rather than webasto or engine running for a shower) I've re-made the bow seats, rear seats and had a bit of a painting session - giving the crew quarters that lovely "London Look"... I quite like it AND most importantly, it hasn't cost me a lot of money (which I dont have thanks to solicitors bills for this wretched divorce)... *begging cap by the door... Anyway - if they work, here are s a few snaps I took... it's a work in progress obviously!

Very posh. I'm doing similar with the portholes, are those hinges hefty enough?

Ok. I've bought little ten mm magnets that fit into the shutters and surround which will keep mine shut. I just drilled a recess, then slotted the magnets in with some glue. The hingeing has been holding me back. I'll try those.

I put magnets behind the veneer orginally... ive left them there but glued stronger ones on top of them now... to keep them open that is....

I am shocked, outraged and grossly offended that you have dared to mention something to do with boats on this forum. You should be BANNNNNNNEDDDDD. If only we had some mods... Apart from all that, looks great!

Good to find the odd sensible threads.
The seating looks very professionally done, and the colour is great.

Looks good Mark glad you are keeping busy, I however seem to be tossing it off a bit, I have loads to do but just cant be bothered to do it. I spent the day fixing the chainsaw then chopping logs with it before discovering that my beloved Tuk Tuk had been swimming in the floods so finished the day doing stuff on it! just dont know where the day goes sometimes, however doing the work on the boat wasnt part of it...................

You both make me home sick for the simple pleasures of being afloat. By the way quaysider , just read your blog ... still one of the best ... keep up the writing, you have a flair for it. Merry christmas to you both. Rog

Nice to see a bit of D-I-Y going on...love the seats, cannot wait to try them out....seeing all that I feel as if its time I had a go at summit again though I have delved and unblocked daughter in laws shower whilst here. Theres a lot of scope in this house to scratch any itch but not sure son would allow. Maybe next year when they are fed up with stuff as it is....could be another Patty Project
