Yes I am a bit surprised he won that. Opens the floodgates for anyone with a “belief” eg believing the earth is flat, believing everything in Star Trek is real, etc.
I would think that is likely to go to appeal.

It makes as much sense as any other belief, the clue is the name.

How does he avoid walking on ants whilst going about his ‘ethical’ business ?

If we weren't meant to eat animals, they wouldn't be made out of meat.

How does he avoid walking on ants whilst going about his ‘ethical’ business ? Well never mind the ants, what about the microbes (live animals) that he eats on his salad. It seems he is size-ist - small animals don’t matter, only ones large enough to easily see. That is discrimination.

What vegans fail to understand is that without humans farming animals lots of species would have died out because they could not compete in the natural environment.
If you look at it in terms of survival the simple fact is that cows, for example, are actually farming humans.
It's an easy life. No need to go out and seek food they just give it to you.
Yes ok so they kill you afterwards but maybe that's better than suffering an old age. They also make lots more cows.
Other than the killing bit which some people may find distasteful it seems a very good plan for cows in the long term.
Same with sheep. They would probably have died out years ago as a species but due to being clever they spotted the humans and allowed us to work for them.
They will all ultimately outlive the humans but in the mean time they need us.

Star Trek was a bad example to use as all their tech is slowly coming into existence, now just waiting for the warp Drive.........

in view that this sensitive little man won't travel by bus in case the bus kills a pigeon, presumably all the food he eats is certified to have not been farmed using a tractor that may have squashed a few earthworms and beetles, and is certified not to have been delivered to its point of sale by road transport.
I didn't notice him treading carefully on the pavement to avoid squashing any ants.
.............. actually I think he is a wildlife vandal that just doesn't really care about the lesser animals at all.

Thinking about it overnight. He would not be able to cope with living in a village such as ours, no public transport at all, to get anywhere it's a car or nothing. He could walk if he had the stamina, Mildenhall 6 miles to the east or Ely 15 miles to the west (ish) though I guess he wouldn't survive here as we all LOVE meat and dismiss veggies as food for wimps Phil

To be fair to the bloke he had simply pointed out the hypocrisy of the league against cruel sports investing money in companies which test products on animals.
In that sense I think it's fair for him to win because it is a situation which needs to be addressed.
Do as I say not as I do. That sort of idea.
They should be investing the money in bean cultivation technologies. But I suppose that doesn't have the same appealing yield as glaxo and smiths and all the big boys.

Cause becomes jobs, recruits professional cause administrators, cause becomes something to keep plugging away at, however impractical. You can see this one going on forever, I remember it 45-50 years ago. Jobs for life as long as you don't actually succeed in your goals...and if you do? Move the goal post.
