Interesting that the bargee agrees to have no sex during his contract. Mr Branford still has his indentures, which stipulate: "He shall not commit fornication nor contract matrimony within the said term. He shall not play at cards or dice tables... he shall not haunt taverns or playhouses"
No fornication OR matrimony.

I've said it before and I'll say it till I'm blue in the face, CRT don't want boats on the waterways. One day someone will get it.

Out of interest, I've only been on the canals a couple of years so only know Scottish Canals and CRT. Were British Waterways any better.

Parry has brought in no new income streams (probably wouldn't recognise an income stream if it jumped up and smacked him in the face), choosing instead to flog off assets in order to balance the books, and soon there will be nothing left to sell. Whilst Allan Leighton seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth, what a waste of space he's been.
Pinky and bloody perky.

Looking back, I would say yes, if only for the reason they were approachable and had to answer to someone. The major issue with CRT is they don't have to answer to anyone. Hence the complete mess pinky and perky are making of it.

You're saying that, and to an extent I agree, because the north suffered from lack of investment under bw. However, 2013-14 saw Vince Moran invest 10 million quid into upgrading northern waters, and even though he was gently pushed from his post, he had secured and imposed his plans before leaving. In my view, Vince Moran should have been made CEO.

I do not know the area in question, but looking at one of the photographs in the article it would appear to be in the area of, or directly opposite, some of the posh flats that have sprung up in Leeds. I wonder if possible objections from the owners have something to do with the stalling of a decision.

Some of the top management in CRT seem to be determined to stop commercial traffic.
It's a safeguarded wharf in an existing industrial zone, the barges are available, the cargo is available and each barge would carry 15 Lorry loads. CRT are preventing this but are building their own multi million inland port in Leeds for proposed cargoes.
They don't want commercial use of the waterways, what's the betting their pie in the sky port will just end up yet another white elephant. destroyed by the "antis" ....... one can't help but wonder about connections with the road haulage industry

It seems entirely likely there is some torpedoing going on somewhere.
I guess looking at the background of major players and decision makers in CRT would probably reveal if they have interests in road.
It would not be enormously surprising.

I suspect this simply boils down to a clash of personalities. Crt don't like him, he's possibly upset one of them, so they endeavour to stitch him up, example, Tony dunkley, nigel moore, the light ship owner. Vindictive, controlling and petty, this is their work ethic. They really do have a hatred of anyone with more knowledge of the canals than their own. Just look back at their behaviour when dealing with anyone, they just do not know how to communicate with people. Even the flippin labour party in their manifesto stated the CRT has not worked, and needs to be back in government control.
