themenagerieafloat I meant no disrespect. You should chat to Telemachus who enjoys all manner of comfort and luxury aboard his 'retreat' boat. We live aboard nine months a year, but use the time to try and get away from the world into a simpler (but comfortable) existence. The joy of boating is perhaps that we all see it differently but can share our enthusiasm anyway Rog

naughtyfox You have been specifically asked by myself and others, not to mess around with our posts. Did you not understand the request ? If you wish to call me a rhinoceras I have no problem ... I am blessed with horniness ... but PLEASE don't alter my posts to do it. I and others find it very annoying as you know Rog ...and, naughtyfox at least learn to spell rhinoceros if you do.

I would imagine (perhaps wrongly!) that you're not a single parent working in a (very) full time role in an industry which prides itself on a lack of flexibility (I had colleagues who were secretly proud when we killed an intern through over-work) trying to balance a (full, of pets and the rest) life in the centre of a large conurbation. Whilst dealing with a stalker. And moving boats.
I have a stove. It looks bl00dy awful covered in fireguards etc and I am frequently too tired to take out the dogs for a late night pee, let alone remember to put the ash out so we don't all die of CO poisoning if I fall to sleep before I make it to bed, let alone clean the d*mn thing, and then the mutts who will walk in the grime as I open the guard to get to it, and then the boat, and then... Seriously, the stove polish is still on the old boat I'm selling, and I intend to leave it for the new owner!
Not everyone also has caged fluffies who require a basic level of heating if left for long-ish periods either. My old boat is happily winterised now and we're having fun cruising it anyway without additional heat/water etc.

Dear god! Please look after yourself, it sounds as if you have your hands full. I had the corporate career when I produced my one and only sprog (IVF, age 40) it was well stressful even with the support of a committed partner. I take my hat off to you managing it all on your own. Please use this forum to vent if you need, you will have my full attention if not that of all the members here! X

When I first came to thunderboat I 'railed' a bit against anonymous 'heros' who were happy to be unpleasant to others from behind pseudonyms. I have always chosen to be open about my boat's name, and my name, and will not post words I am not happy to be identified with. So any post I make, although my 'signature' name is dogless (here and the other place when I was there) I sign off with my name. Rog I hate avatars with a vengeance, and always sign of with my name both here and over there and of course there is my bum, famous both here and there I reckon that if I have something to say I should be man enough to be responsible and own it Phil

That is very kind, thank you! In global (or local historic) terms I'm extraordinarily lucky. But sometimes I really do feel I want the easy/forgettable option even if expensive and not super-perfect!
Currently slightly jealous that I am paying someone to paint the little one's cabin. He will do it better than me (and he is doing some other stuff too I really don't want to learn how to do) but I would secretly have liked to do that myself. I mean, we've had fun assembling bits of furniture and so forth and little one would rather have my time than me doing something I'd need to concentrate on without 'help' - but I do understand the appeal of being more practical oneself.
On the plus side I just found my cash card (along with some fluffy treats and sanitary products) in my dressing gown pocket so don't have to confess to a 'stolen card' number that my last transaction will have been about a week ago when I fell to sleep buying DIY stuff on-line!

If I think I have been unjust or unfair or am proved wrong I try to apologise. and I am also very calm and don't rant very often (incidentally spellchucker you interfering bloody contraption I have always spelled apollogise with an s and will continue to do so as it is perfectly correct English sp sod off with your zeds)
