Done the tunnel many times ... I'm sure the middle gets lower each time.
I don't mind tunnels, especially the wide ones ... but Harecastle is definitely my least favourite.
Pity about this virus ... some terrific pubs around the Cheshire locks.

Been hot and sunny here all day, but we've just had half an hour of rain and thunder and now sunny and steaming again. Enjoy your evening Rog

We did that back in the day when the boats were towed through and people travelled in the electric tug ... dogs weren't allowed so we left the boat and walked the dogs over the top (2006).
We have done the trip boat in the tunnel, but never been through.

As someone who HATES tunnels, I have to admit having gone through Standedge twice last year (and have 4 passages planned for 2021) it's quite grown on me. I Think it's because you have to concentrate the whole way through (circa 90 mins the last time), I don't have time to let my brain worry about all that's above crashing down and killing us... I just try and keep off the jutty out bits - so far so good.
It is nice though and I'm a bit diasspointed our 2 passages in May were cancelled due to some virus thingy.
