Had a walk around New Mills earlier. Hardly a soul around, creepy, it was like the world had ended. Anyway, I noticed most of the shops had signs in their windows 'closed, corona virus'. Included in this site were the 2 fish and chip shops and a Chinese takeaway. Further along the street were 2 kebab houses and an Indian takeaway, all open. I'm going to assume that no such place would choose to commit financial suicide so the ones that closed were forced/ strongly advised to do so. So what's going on here?

The world has ended.
Did you not realise that the availability of this forum was due to internet buffer storage?

Nice pics, you make it look a much nicer place than it actually is.

I like the railway station in the deep cutting in New Mills. you do realise that path isn't wide enough to "socially distance " on don't you?

You can hold your breath in for those few seconds when you pass another person. And don't lick the handrails! I found New Mills a bit quirky and somewhat exciting when you realise it's a gateway to the Peak District. Kinder Scout can be seen from the Upper Peak Forest Canal.

I find it dreary and depressing and the locals are particularly unfriendly. Whaley Bridge, just 4 miles up the A6, is a much more welcoming place.

Talking of 'exciting' places - do you think Harry now realises he's doomed? Off to Los Angeles. Dreary, flat, polluted, full of crime. He could have stayed in England and done a bit of horse riding in leafy West Berkshire and hob-nobbing round the stately homes and castles. Now all he's got is Disneyland's fake castle. There are nice places in the USA - Los Angeles ain't one of 'em! He'll get mugged.
