I was wondering whether this freedom of self identity might extend beyond gender. For example, if a white person woke up one morning feeling that they were black would it be OK for them to self identify as a black person? Yes. That's it you see. When that Canadian bloke was revealed to have 'blacked up' in his youth there was an outcry and calls for him to resign. Some have suggested that because there is a perceived difference in privilege/ power between black and white people, in favour of whites, him 'blacking up' was somehow demeaning towards blacks. I won't pretend to understand the logic behind that but let's park it for now. Then contrast: A man, perceived by some to have natural privilege over a woman chooses to dress as a woman. There are no calls for him to resign. Some people celebrate it as a great victory, fantastic progress that he is freely able to do this, without critisism. I find the apparently opposite reaction to what are essentially 2 identical acts rather confusing. It seems to me that this section of society, a powerful one, is saying that everyone should be what they are, physiologically. Anything other than this is deemed offensive. However, a number of exceptions to this logic (a tick list) has been formulated. In these cases, and only in these cases, the logic applied to everyone else must be reversed. Its quite difficult to understand really.

Are the terms ‘self identify’ and ‘delusional’ interchangeable?

Society grows, develops, becomes more aware of it's history and makes (hopefully) more enlightened choices.
Not so very long ago bear and badger baiting were norms ... it was impossible for a woman to be a doctor, MP, or member of the clergy ... homosexuality was a crime for which men were imprisoned ... freedom was a remote concept when bread-line wages required 12 and 14 hour shifts.
Outside in the real world we all just get on with life ... unless you've discovered Wales to be a hotbed of gender and ethnic fluidity I wouldn't worry too much.

I find this suggestion quite offensive to those of us who self-identify as 11 year olds.
Age fluidity is very important. It is not "just delusional". If other people who do not exhibit age fluidity could find a way to validate it then we would be in a better place in a wholesome and inclusive society.
Having said that people with willies calling themselves women is well dodgy !!
