I know what Chrisp Street market is.
The first pedestrianised shopping centre in Britain. Now showing its age rather.
Handy charity shops there to be fair. Interesting layout but I think it's now under the architects pen for a major glass fronted overhaul.
Inner east London is full of gems. This is not one of them.

I never go to pubs but maybe you are thinking of the Festival Inn. Opposite the post orifice Google street image The awful extension will be more recent. The only thing I have noticed about that pub is that there is sometimes an immaculate showroom condition scarlet red Mercedes 560SEC moored outside it round the other side. A nice motor. Really very nice and considering its 1980s it really is in incredibly good condition.

Well there are plenty of pubs no longer present in E14 so it could be on this list www.closedpubs.co.uk/london/e14_poplar.htmlIt's amazing how many pubs there were once here, and brothels. I don't know if anyone has done a list of the brothels but there were a LOT of them. Ratcliffe highway I think was one of the busiest areas for brothels.

There were a hell of a lot of music pubs around everywhere back in the day. I used to know musicians who could work almost every night round London pubs or clubs

I was considering doing the Boater Of The Millenium award some years ago (bloody hell it is 20 years!!) but could not get enough enthusiasm to get it organised. It's a shame really as the BOTM award could have been really amazing and perhaps got tvflix coverage in its 21st year. that is the kind or thing I do only sometimes it's a lot further back in time
In a 10 days time it will be an anniversary of the Festival of Britain ......... hands up those who know what the Skylon was (heaven help me ...... that will be 70 years)
John, John, my hand's up being a Londoner my father took me as he felt it would benefit my education. My recollection of the day out is rather vague butthat might be simply due to my age Phil

The bbc are very politically correct, and once more this year, they have proved to be so.

I lived in London 1975-79.. Ex hubby rented room above a pub in Tooley St..I went to the opening, it was interesting with the clientele present. The police crawled around in their cars outside... I had never seen men with 'heavy duty' rings on their fingers....learnt later they were knuckle dusters..was like a scene from a film with all the suits. I've never forgotten walking back to the Nursing Home over Tower bridge at about 5am. Tooley St has changed so much

I am familiar with the area as often take the girls to King Edward's memorial park where they are building one of the shit cassions for the super sewer.

Skylon, yes indeed iconic, that was when no one had a Television, unless Baird. PS I was very disappointed you eeddjit men did not vote for Holly Doyle, but some instead opted for guy who can drive a car, just a bit faster than everyone else, not to mention a gaggle of millionaires, 'constructors' whatever they are and all the rest of the synchophants. Holly has done it on her own, in a male dominated sport.

A cassion is like a dry Dock, well something like. Imagine having to build a lighthouse on a wave swept rock ...... The Stevenson Lighthouses.
