I like Ianali's reply ... Bodger's reply also has validity, the "calm down dear, it's been less than a year" - but Bodger claims "it is being brought under control" when it looks like it really isn't - every day more 'cases discovered', and an unlimited supply of 'mutant strains' waiting in the wings to be wheeled out when convenient. Bodger also says "modern society seems to be typified by self-entitled materialistic attitudes that have no substance and collapse into hysteria" when this is exactly what he himself is displaying with his 'hide behind the sofa until the magic vaccine is given' stance, and "it's all the fault of the young ones mingling and spreading the virus." Bodger also misses out the lucrative contracts handed out to the Conservative Party's mates and relations, and the insidious, threatening way the Police have been behaving. Has anyone else noticed there are no statistics or charts or graphs that show how many people are already dying from lack of treatment by doctors, surgeons, hospitals... and the state of people's teeth with dentists being closed (yes, yes, we know that Peterboat's dentist has remained throughout)? Here's the 'stiff upper lip' for you: " UK jigsaw puzzle sales hit £100m as 'people find a balance in their lives'. Covid crisis drove consumers to scenes of nostalgia, ‘cosy sheds’ and animals in 2020"www.theguardian.com/business/2021/feb/01/uk-jigsaw-puzzle-sales-hit-100m-as-people-find-a-balance-in-their-lives-covidRemember: "Mustn't grumble" as you are locked up for life. Ross, I can see you are a bit pissed off that you can't come over to the UK and do some boating, but what are you hoping to achieve with your comments? Have you actually made any of your views known to people who might be able to do something about them (e.g MP's, high profile figures)? Or do you really think posting negative attacks on us will help anyone?

If I decide today to ignore all restrictions and go about life as normal, I will find no shops open, no restaurants or pubs open, no gyms or hairdressers open, no cinemas or theatres open ... in fact it is impossible to live as normal under the restrictions.
Whether that's right or wrong is largely irrelevant at this point ... it is simple reality that we all have to adjust to and deal with.
Sadly, as with all realities, some will struggle.
Around 9 million first vaccines given, and all data so far available is very positive with more vaccines coming on stream all the time, and the government proposing to publish its 'road map' out of restrictions by 22nd of this month ... that's reasons to be hopeful.
I have no problem with those that wish to look at ONLY the negatives ... but why are they always so intent on making everyone just as miserable?
In a few years time, some perspective will be gained, and we will all be able to establish what was done or should have been done ... until then we REALLY don't get a choice.
Rog
ETA Perhaps also worth mentioning that despite huge publicity about youngsters catching covid, the average age of those dying in UK remains 82.4 years (O.N.S.)

I personally believe the lockdown will end just as soon as the weather improves - one way or another. I think mass acts of civil disobedience will precede a backdown from the gov. They can't arrest everybody and they know it.

Thing is even post vaccine folk have to be careful as they can carry virus but I suspect most will see the jab as a green card to freedom... I intend carrying on in my little world until summer and hoping most will be vaccinated by then

I intend carrying on in my little world until summer and hoping most will be vaccinated by then I believe that we don’t know whether you can pass on the virus after you have been jabbed? But makes sense for you to be careful. It’s how I hope this will go, those who feel vulnerable keep themselves to themselves, whilst the rest of us resume our lives.

its a horrible thought, asking people to shut themselves away for the greater good, or so people can go the pub.

In order to protect others I will be assuming, unless it is proved otherwise, that I can catch, carry and infect others with the virus after I have been vaccinated. It's the socially responsible thing to do.

They're on target to achieve vaccination of the top four 'most at risk' tiers by 15th of this month ... these groups represent 88% of all deaths. February to end of April the target is all over 50's vaccinated ... representing 99% of all deaths. That will leave 21 million adults between 18 and 50 to be jabbed, which they expect to complete by September. The 'road map' to lifting restrictions is to be announced 22nd of this month. The average age of death is 82.4 (O.N.S.) This is all good, positive news in my opinion ... coupled with decreasing hospital occupancy, and improving treatments. Now more than at any time in the past year, we have reasons to be very hopeful ... and that's my focus Rog ETA My 19 yr old niece has just been called for her vaccination ... she will be able to return to work before month end ... yeay !

It's the socially responsible thing to do. So lockdown until? I will just be avoiding people as I have done for years, unlike some there is no need for me to socialise with strangers. I hate going into shops much preferring to shop on line saves having to deal with idiots. The only change from lockdown will be that I can go boating and luckily not on cart's ditches so there are fewer idiots around to spoil my day.

the fox may like to do some research for himself for a change - the daily number of new infections has dropped by half over the last couple of weeks. I've been doing my own research on this 'covid' since last March. No you haven't. What you have done is peruse a lot of websites where paranoia is king and regurgitate the most salacious bits.

linking a drop in new infections with an immediate relaxation of lockdown measures suggests that you have an immature (childish) understanding of how we get out of this mess .......... probably typical of a Mailing Fail reader. so sad.
since you state you have been "doing your own research" perhaps you could share with us exactly what your findings are that lead you to suggest that the government statistics are false.
