It seems odd that the police (or someone) chose to remove the boat from the crime scene if they had not established that it was unrelated. Not at all - they may have been looking for something underneath the boat - murder weapon (eg. knife?). The game is afoot.

I don't see what the suspicion is about the boat having been shifted a bit. Sometimes we turn over big stones in our garden to see if you are lurking under any of them. It will be blunt force trauma. That's why I was bothered about the power head being moved. Tampering with evidence.

I don’t know if it will be used by the defence, but at several meetings with CRT a couple of years ago, they were categorically stating that number checkers would only be checking boat movement. They were emphatic that number checkers would not be producing or attaching overstay notices. Such actions would only be carried out by a patrol officer. Obviously CRT have lied, and as a consequence placed an employee in danger, which ultimately resulted in a loss of life.
No excuse for what happened, but CRT needs to take a look at their people skills and policies.

Seems strange that he wasn’t even putting an overstay notice on the defendant’s boat, it was someone else’s boat.

What happened to the "narrowboat" that he and Eastern European Lady were trying to sell?

It could have been worse. He could have had his heart ripped out and eaten in front of him. That would be a terrible way to go.
