Not the scouse git’s affair with his assistant but yet another SSA on the Nene.
@loddon can’t catch a break, Covid knackered the job up for large parts of last year now Mother Nature is reminding us of who really is in charge.

Lost weekend, it's pretty much the whole thing 😱 Bailing out Monday/Tuesday and going home 😟 Family commitments mean I can't get back until 29th providing MIL agrees to change her visit to us. Trying to get out of family day on the 4th and go boating from 30th to the 16th. Will have to curtail the trip as those dates include out and back from Ringstead. Watch this space. Still the weather is better at home😎 All a bit of a mess.
Oh and the GT Ouse is on caution how long before that goes red?

I heard tonight that a boat left Lilford Marina today and is now stuck across the weir, I was told it was Lilford so I guess they got into trouble leaving the lock whilst turning the lock round @gazza

Re the boat in distress, its a good chance they made a pigs ear of exiting the lock to moor up, even if they had left it lowered and pinned it they would have found Wadehoe a real challenge! if it turns out they we’re heading downstream towards Oundle they would likely have been defeated by air draft at Barnwell road bridge, failing that lower Barnwell lock would be a show stopper as that is reversed..... It is never a good time to go boating just after SSA has been announced.

Just have to hope its over 11 days from now.

It just gets better😱 Half hour after getting home, 250miles from the boat, SSA is lifted. Can we have some rain down here in the South West it's been parched.

I thought of you when I got the call - bloody swines! Can't go now anyway, sometime between now and the 4th we have to fit a visit in from MIL and crossing the ML. Will be returning MIL to the place where they point at the rain/sun/moon/stars (delete as appropriate) a week today, then off across the ML. For those that don't know the place is Raunds 😱

sounds a bit like Coggeshall
(they had two windmills but there was never enough wind so they knocked one down to save the wind for the other)

Nah ! definitely a Coggeshall job ...... same place where a rabid dog bit a wheelbarrow so they chained the wheelbarrow up in case it went mad.

Rivers ... huh ... what do you expect Rog Locks that work, Stoppages that are fixed quickly No cyclists No towpath Shufflers Waterways that are deep enough to navigate I will suffer having to put up with an SSA against a crumbling infrastructure where you never know where the next bit of canal will fail.
