I could pay for private for my girls but I don't believe it is the right thing.
Interestingly both myself and my older sister went to a variety of private schools. Younger sister went to a state secondary school.
Of the 3 of us the younger one is definitely the most "normal" she even has a job and a stockbroker and a husband !!
Older sister issues, divorced, bipolar diagnosed.
Obviously I myself am amazing. A true landmark role model.
Not that this is necessarily all school related but it is quite interesting I find.
You do learn stuff at school.

Met a lovely young family at a water point the other day ... home schooling two youngsters. I'm sure the advantages and disadvantages compared with state schooling just about equal out. I must confess the boarding school idea seems very strange to me ... as Nick said, why have kids if you're going to send them away during their formative years ... but my view is frequently wrong. It's like people who get a dog ... then employ a dog walker. If the issue is you're out at work 12 hours a day you have no time for a dog and if someone else is doing all the walking and feeding, what's the point anyway ! But I'm very often wrong as Jane cheerfully likes to point out Rog

How exactly does one apply to join the Goon Squad? You have to be appointed by Tony Dunkley.

Anyone with any kind of education would know it's not wise to go to large events such as festivals whilst there's a viral pandemic on. Kindly reserve such comments for your covid threads if you please naughtyfoxI think all parents want the best education for their kids ... whether they can afford to pay directly for it is a matter of good fortune. No man worked harder than my old Dad ... but colliery working (even when he became an official) could never finance private education. Rog Neither could my parents, however being a promising student I was awarded a scholarship so my parents paid no fees. I think it was the fact that despite being able to get decent grades I just didnt bother that upset the school so much leading to them asking me to go

No, there was also the thing about wanting to reproduce. I do often think it would be incredibly clever to be gay in the sense of day to day activities but the biological drive is too strong. Just me on the boat now but if there was ever anyone else other than my children now and then it would be a female and there would be more babies. So I practice social distancing. I've only ever had one partner and that was a reproduction thing. I would not wish to have this burden without the positive outcome of adding my incredibly well engineered genes to the general population. Or possibly an incredibly wealthy woman with a house by the Thames who likes a spot of boating but also enjoys practicing social distancing.

i've been looking for years... I'm not looking at all. My theory is that, to quote the Spinal Tap bloke, someone "drifts through my transom". One would hope that this was at a stage where the engineroom staff had been ordered to close down the power units. Or maybe full astern would be better ! Chop chop! If a job's worth doing it's worth doing properly.
