Approximately. Using average mpg and mileage for cars and say 1 litre per hour for a narrow boat.
By a quick calculation I have used approximately 500 litres of petrol in my car and approximately 300 litres of diesel in my boat.
So by my slide rule this is something like 800 litres of liquid hydrocarbons destroyed by me.
Anyone done less? Or more?

714 litres, minus what is left in the tank.
Includes all heating but not Bus transport.
ETA - plus about 20 litres of oil.
Further edit - I'm in the lead with 'lower'...

Am I to count the aircraft consumption on my trips for HMG? If so its a hell of a lot.
Private car, possibly 150 litres, boats certainly over 1000 litres this year including the deliveries.
Gets a bit frightening when you add it all up and think about how much is being burnt in a jam on a motorway or getting Ever Given through the canal.
Never mind, it grows on trees.

Forgot to add in the gas...
3 x 13kg cylinders - one of which leaked into the open air... not sure if that was good for the environment or not, gas sinks in air so possibly I was putting carbon back in the earth!

Around 30 litres of petrol in my motor bike. Boat is paddle powered. I'm going to hesitate before getting like many eletric car drivers i.e. all smug and self righteous because the gas and electricity I use daily, along with the coal I burn during the winter, also burns hydrocarbons.

Not so much now but when I was running my own truck I used to spend around Β£50,000 a year on diesel.

I am guessing but I suspect mine will be around the 2,000 litres.
about 20/30 litres travelling by boat (thank you Hull City Council Bridge division and thank CRT A&C Maintenance/repair section) however about the best part of 1,000 litres in the car due several long runs for hospital appointments and about the same again for heating (due to the crap summer causing me to burn nearly as much as I do through the winter)

Seems an odd question ... or am I over thinking it?
I use as much as I need and no more ... but the question appears to suggest one can choose to use less.
I'm not sure how that would work ... batteries fully charged but run the engine anyway ... drive round the block to clock the miles up ?
Rog
