I love the sound they make ... a rather plaintive, melancholic cry. If it's a peacock, and a peahen, should the young be peachicks ? Rog Lovely call but always makes me uneasy ... where I came from you never took a peacock feather into the house, it was so unlucky. The myth/rumour was that each peacock's cry was that of a lost/dead child ........ eta - that little one today was just SO very cute, though x

Never heard of the peacock feather being unlucky. We always had them in our houses and I have had nothing but good luck.
Of course statistically good luck is just as likely as bad luck so if something is viewed as "bad luck" it will only ever get to around 50% or in some cases it could go up towards 60% but this is unlikely in a large group scenario.
Obviously there will be exceptions but in general it will tend to even itself out over time.
In most cases.
Of course if people "believe" in good or bad luck and relate it to certain situations or objects or chattels then they may install into their own psyche some issues which could cause problems and make them misunderstand a "lucky" situation as an "unlucky" situation.
I suppose it is all up to the individual but it's very important not to think that inanimate objects or irrelevant situations could in any way alter your life outcomes.

In olden times peacocks were sometimes used as a sort of organic intruder alert system.
