Now it's December the tree that has been languishing on our Verandah since last week has been brought inside and decorated.

One of my previous boat Christmas trees. It was 2ft tall when I planted it on my old mooring in 1995

Rudolf has been hanging every year since he was given to us for winning a quiz about 9 years ago. Its a proper noose 13 turns if I remember correctly.

Daughter went to Christmas tree farm to get her tree tonight I went with Iggy for the Father Christmas visit... he didn't spoil the secret for the older grand daughter Freezing cold but they seemed to enjoy themselves He has lots of reindeer including white ones and a winter wonderland Iggy quite put out as I didn't get a tree... I have no room really

Good to see you back @dj The tree looks terrific @loddon ... if a little early Rog I managed to delay it to December, I would put the tree up on Christmas Eve until 12th night. Decorations will be taken off by 12th night but the tree will remain until February as it did last year.

Still there is it? I thought that bit above Springwell lock had been earmarked for development. I had the enamel factory lights out of that place before most of the interior of the sheds was smashed to pieces by the scrotes. Nice lamp shades actually. They stayed on one of the former boats. Old school green outside white inside tin enamel. Lighting was important in workplaces. There were some nice cast iron switches as well but much more awkward to remove. Light switches probably still there.

As for Christmas trees I hauled the 3ft high pink tree out of the engine hole on the barge and the younger offspring unit, who I bought it for about 6 years ago, pointed out that when I bought it she was shorter than it and it was the display tree. In Wickes I think it was, or Homebase. Very naff plastic thing but doesn't matter as woman and children evacuate to another part of the world for the Christmas break leaving me to drink beer and play with boats and eat bacon sandwiches. All the B's. Season's greetings

Just about 'hanging on' unless collapsed in the wind last week. I believe there are plans to replace it when necessary.

Sadly itβs not the same monkey www.historic-uk.com/HistoryUK/HistoryofEngland/The-Hanging-of-the-Hartlepool-Monkey/In my case it was some graffiti on a toilet door at Carlsberg Northampton that provided the riddle that took some time to solve. Q Who hung the Monkey? A The Presco Pig. Turns out the foreman from former pipe contractors Presco Engineering was from Hartlepool - I found this out by chance talking to a Hartlepool supporter at the company I moved to from Carlsberg. They ainβt called monkey hangers up there for nothing π€£π
