Just musing really.
Anyone make a special effort to donate or help out with charities over the xmas period?

When driving on Christmas day I usually give fake £50 notes to homeless people at traffic lights.
I'm sure they appreciate the joke.
Would not give money to a charity though as they seem to usually have paid employees which seems too scammy.
Happy to buy clothes and Fabergé eggs from charity shops.
I did once go to a thing about setting up a charity (floating canal museum) and chatting to other people it was impressive how many of them were looking for the loophole whereby they could divert funds to their own pockets despite the whole idea being that you don't do that.
Sort of put me off a bit. Always been a fake naive sceptical cynic.

There are too two to far too two to many so called charities which line the pockets of the instigators/staff/heads or waste money with blue signs.
A curse on them all.
I am supporting people in the Philippines, nothing left for hand outs to the advertisers on the TV. I don't want a dog, cat, child, water tap, clef palate, tiger, life boat, eye operation dah dah dah dah dah.

We are doing a raffle at work, one of the office team does something each xmas for the homeless, good thing is she buys stuff they need instead of giving the money and then drops it off.

Interesting question. However if we ignore it we look like we ignore charity. If we answer, we look like we're boasting. So perhaps the best thing to do is to write something utterly irrelevant (I know, I know ... you think everything I write is irrelevant ) Hope this fits the bill. Rog

I donate an amount to charity equal to the most expensive xmas present I've bought that year.
This may be a boast or considered miserly/irelevant...

Just between you and I, I'm a fan of the Salvation Army's work feeding and housing the homeless particularly at Christmas... £19 this year to provide for one individual .
Food banks are direct giving too.

I tend to support charities that family members raise money for. There are so many requests I just felt that supporting the ones family support made choices easier

There was an article in the local news about a homeless charity that needed a bit of hands-on help. So I looked at how to contact them which was seemingly exclusively through Faceache. I left a message explaining that I was willing to volunteer and left other contact details since I only use Faceache once in a blue moon. There was a reply enthusiastically stating someone would call. They didn't. Perhaps they were inundated with offers of help.

Apologies I didn't contact you re Thames trip, for various reasons I've put the idea on hold - once I get a job in the early spring things might change, depending on job flexibility.
Part of this post will dissapear at some point.
