To clarify, I am not against vaccination per se. It can be a useful option for vulnerable individuals. Of course most vulnerable people, due to the nature of animal life forms, will be people who are statistically likely to die soon.
For other people it seems less important to take vaccines and the focus should be on remaining healthy without needing medical intervention.
The problem occurs when the general idea is to "vaccinate the world"
This is not the correct approach.

It does seem slightly pointless. One wonders if it could be a better approach to let the natural defences do the job. But where's the profit in that? according to dispatches on channel 4, it costs Pfizer 80p to make each dose but they charge the Uk government £26 for each. Not bad profit for an experimental vaccine, when you’ve got absolutely no liability either?

JohnV I have not inspected the statistics but I have thought it through. How do you know that there isn't a massive bias towards old unvaccinated people ? Just because the number of vaccinated people is apparently higher than in younger age groups doesn't mean that there are no unvaccinated old people. Ageing population etc I don't .... but it doesn't matter.
if 100% of those patients occupying intensive care/high dependency beds are old people, when the percentage of that age group have been vaccinated is about 90% but the percentage of those occupants who have not been vaccinated is greatly more than 10% ........ then obviously vaccination works.
As I said I would not consider the Health Minister a reliable scientific witness but even if the figures he said were halved that would still make the number of unvaccinated patients 4.5 times greater than chance would indicate

Good argument for vaccinating old people.
I totally agree.
I don't agree with coercive vaccination of perfectly healthy people however.
This is what we have.
We also have division among people who believe vaccination is essential for all and those who realise it isn't.
It's bad shit. I'm not joking. The effect of this is going to be far more long lasting and more significant than the disease will ever be.
People die. Deal with it.
Covering up a knackered health service with vultures circling is not a good idea. It wants exposing and it wants exposing now.
Far more people would be saved in the long run if the discussion could be had but it's so much more convenient to cover it up.
I mean for fucks sake we have a former health secretary who everyone knows pocketed shed loads of money due to this covid bullshit then went off to play ladies and gentlemen with his sexy mistress.
He should have been locked up for fraud.
Something wrong here !

It's quite interesting looking at the pfizer share price. It was a while ago, late 90s, that they accidentally discovered Viagra and it gave the share price a real hard-on. Covid has been even better than giving a load of nackered old fellas hard willies. Well done !

so we are told every day that the number of new infections doubles every 2 days.
I can't find any statistics that show that to be the case, in fact an "expert" stated the other day on ITV News that the number had increased by 66% in a week.
I conclude that the Diane Abbot skule of arifmettick is now fashionable among Classics scholars from Eton.
You are confused. What was said is the number of new omicron infections doubles every 2 days (well I heard 2 to 3 days) but at the moment, omicron still represents a relatively small percentage of total covid infections. So if a small percentage doubles, for a while it doesn’t have much effect on the much larger overall number of infections. Until it does.
I'm not confused. On Friday it was estimated that 89% of new cases in the UK were Omicron.

Perfectly healthy people are vaccinated every day for many diseases.
diptheria, German Measles, typhoid, yellow fever, cholera, dengue, chicken pox, etc etc etc
Have you had your tetanus shots ?

But what is in tetanus shots? We should be told. Blatantly copied but very apt. I'm fully vaccinated and, no, I don't know what's in it - neither this vaccine, the ones I had as a child, nor in the Big Mac, or hot dogs, or other treatments…whether it's for cancer, AIDS, the one for polyarthritis, or vaccines for infants or children. I also don't know what's in Ibuprofen, Paracetamol, or other meds, it just cures my headaches & my pains. I don't know what's in the ink for tattoos, vaping, Perla Mocna and other cheap lagers, Botox and fillers, or every ingredient in my soap or shampoo or even deodorants. I don’t know the long term effect of mobile phone use or whether or not that restaurant I just ate at REALLY used clean foods and washed their hands. In short ... There's a lot of things I don't know and never will… I just know one thing: life is short, very short, and I still want to do something other than just going to work every day or staying locked in my home. I still want to travel and hug people without fear and find a little feeling of life "before". As a child and as an adult I've been vaccinated for mumps, measles, polio, chickenpox, and quite a few others; my parents and I trusted the science and never had to suffer through or transmit any of the said diseases and, I'm vaccinated, not to please the government but: * To not die from Covid-19. * To NOT clutter a hospital bed if I get sick. * To hug my loved ones * To Not have to do PCR or antigenic tests to go to a restaurant, go on holidays and many more things to come ... * To live my life. * To see and hug my family and friends * For Covid-19 to be an old memory. * To protect us

probably not surprising as it was about 25% a week ago in London (which is a hot spot)
Delta will be as rare as wild Covid soon.
As long as there is a large pool of unvaccinated people world wide and an endemic transmissible disease there are going to be a string of new variants with different levels of morbidity.
It's never possible to put the genie back in the bottle ..... however it has been released

Ah, the good old days when the fox banged on interminably on the subject and we all either ignored him or called him a twat as preference dictated and then everybody else could talk crap about other things. Oh well.

No no, next year covid will be so passée and mutated bird flu will be the new lurgy. Influenza is already a world wide endemic transmissible disease that produces new variants nearly every year.
Covid is just another one to add to the growing list
