Mr StabbyI said it was heavy! www.atob.org.uk/powabyke-lithium-ion-shopper/Complete with accessories, the 6-speed Shopper weighs some 25.9kg. Heave the 14.1kg lead/acid battery on board, and you’re looking at 40kg overall, which just happens to be the legal ceiling for electric bikes. Another gram and you’re nicked. Dad's Li-Ion upgrade will have that at mid 30's now, but still plenty heavy enough!

It counts as an electric motorbike if it can go more than 15.5mph or if it has a throttle. I only deregulate mine, or connect the throttle, in the grounds of my mansion.
The speeds mentioned are stupid, as is the riders attire. Mind you, in days of yore, I used to cruise around in summer in just shorts and a helmet on my ex police Triumph Bonneville.

Those were the days Jim. Have fond memories of racing Ferrari’s in the south of France on my big Kawasaki. Dressed just in shorts with Ali on pillion in a bikini.

Pre 2016 throttle wasn't an issue. www.electricbikesguildford.com/description-of-electric-bikes-the-motors-and-the-battery-including-range-and-the-law/our-blog/the-throttle/I haven't ridden the mighty shop rider bar for a quick spin around the street at my brothers in Lingwood, It is waiting in line to be looked at; once i have fettled it I will report back.

A throttle is still not an issue, though they are now called assist buttons.

A throttle is still not an issue, though they are now called assist buttons. The iron beast has a throttle, although it's performance won't be what you call startling! I have a nice Shimano 600 freewheel on order for it, 13-30 so it will lower bottom gear a bit and raise slightly top gear, will see how it goes. It could probably do with a 40T Chainwheel but wont be getting one, it is after all going to be used as an old klunker to be kept at the boat club for use in and around the flatlands of Peterborough.

You’ll find them in Penthouse magazine, July 1991. Though why you would want pics of me, in skimpy shorts, is beyond me?
