I've had more steel boats than I would like to shake a stick at.
But anyway I noticed that the one where the paint lasted the longest was the British racing green gloss paint. It really seems to be pretty good.
Other ones have faded and become a nuisance.
Grey is probably quite a good approach.
People must have their own preferences.
If you could have any colour, painted new with primer undercoat mid coat, overcoat and rain coat rubbed down what colour would you choose?

It is, that is why so many early steam railway locomotives were painted in Brunswick Green or close variants, it is the colour most resistant to weathering.

I love that bright blue of the sky with cream and bit of red... Patty Anns colours.....

The green parts of our boat are Brunswick green.😊

Johnathon wilson blue for mine, apparently that many were painted that colour it became a thing? mine is that colourish with cream and red grab bits
