Sorry, ianali - I (and it seems, others who have met me) thought you were casting aspersions on my sexuality - nothing could be further from the truth! Yes, you are, so sadly, correct. I lost my boating buddy of the last 10 and a half years very recently...

Life may seem complicated ianali but ... ... there is Marmite, there is whisky, there is birdsong, there is love and there is boating .............. Life is simple, it's people who complicate it x ‘Twas the first line of your post I hope I read incorrectly. Anyway, Amen to your last post. Yes, it is all Rog's fault - I was only (dog?)tagging him - and look what it started!!!

Mea culpa ... just a natural trouble causer when I've been drinking ... and I'm very happy to say I have been Rog Well I’ve not had a drop tonight, but feel drunk as a skunk. Seems the whisky fumes drifting from yonder green boat are having an effect.

I usually like to explain to these sorts of people that the world never started and it will never end. It's impossibile for either of these things to occur. Humans are fundamentally bound by the biological lifeform which has a finite existence. Therefore everything must be finite. However that isn't and can not be the case. It's amazing how limiting the human brain is in this regard. "The universe is not only stranger than we imagine; it is stranger than we can imagine". (J.B.S. Haldane)
Albert Einstein in 1936:
Scientists believe that every occurrence, including the affairs of human beings, is due to the laws of nature. Therefore a scientist cannot be inclined to believe that the course of events can be influenced by prayer, that is, by a supernaturally manifested wish.
However we must concede that our actual knowledge of these forces is imperfect, so that in the end the belief in the existence of a final, ultimate spirit rests on a kind of faith. Such belief remains widespread even with the current achievements in science.
But also, anyone who is seriously involved in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that some spirit is manifest in the laws of the universe, one that is vastly superior to that of man. In this way the pursuit of science leads to a religious feeling of a special sort, which is surely quite different from the religiosity of someone more naive.

I went into Spoons last night in Stone for tea with my mate simon (the one who just had the new Aintree Beetle delivered) and bought a bottle of villa maria for ME... I only drank 2 glasses and brought the rest of it home... almost unheard of! I've never left the pub with a bottle before - generally necking it!
What I did notice was that the screens have all gone and the pub is back to normal now - as such, the back ground noise and chatter has returned making it fee alive again.. I liked it.
tbh, I've not spent much time online at all of late - mainly cause I've been throwing my efforts into Dating... it takes a lot of time 'interviewing' prospective life partners/1 hour stands... I really should write an checklist and send the questions on ahead of time to make the meetings more efficient ;-)
I HAVE been out for a few days here and there on my own which I've not minded - well part from Monday in that wind... I'd gone up to Wedgewood on Sunday with the Welder (yes that still rumbles on.. lots of days out together and no sex) which had been a lovely day with a 70s disco mix and lots of beer... Monday and Tuesday stuck up there in the monsoon/gale force winds on my own was less fun. Still, I'm back again now and plodding on website building off line - the wifi here is not fast enough for me to upload so I need to get it all prepped and then go to a hotel or visit a mate to finally get it online.
In other news - my diet (not publicized this year after last years failure) has gone really well... I'm down to 11stone 12 now - was 14 5 at the start of the year. I even fancy myself again and get away with being 39 on a good day lol.

Terrific to hear from you quaysider ... apart from the WiFi we hope your winter in the marina's going well. The report of you not finishing ONE bottle of wine has left Jane a little faint and disoriented, but she recovered quickly when I read on to her about your new athletic figure. Not long until Spring proper. Rog
