I have never understood why it is so difficult to stay within the clearly defined channel markers. I would have left them to wait for the tide. I used to see similar on Barton Broad when I worked on the Broad,

Rivers ... tut Rog I went across Braydon on my own aged 15, dad had a Mayland 16 at the time, it got thumped by a `Herbert Woods hire boat damaging the transom and outboard bracket while on holiday on the northern rivers. The boat was left with HW at their yard where it was repaired. Only trouble was it was near the end of the holiday meaning arrangements had to be made to get back to the car at Hardley Dyke. A couple of weeks later dad heard from HW - The Out House Mouse was ready for collection; only trouble was the logistics of car shuffles etc weren’t so easy this time round. Dad then hit upon the obvious solution - seeing as I could drive the boat but not the car I was tasked with boat delivery! A distance of around 26 miles and around 6 odd hours, I remember waiting the tide for a short time at Yarmouth, an uneventful trip as it should be; Phil rightly mentions the channel is well marked- by sodding great wooden posts!

Rivers ... tut Rog The rivers there are fine if you follow a few very basic rules like not cutting the corner and rounding the yellow post at the top of Breydon where it meets the Bure and keeping between the easily seen posts as you cross. And of course getting your tide times right. Tide tables showing the best Yarmouth transit times are plentiful. You also get one with your boat. You should only really get into trouble if you encounter a loss of engine or some such other catastrophic failure of the boat such as steering loss. If it wasn't the boat at fault they will be getting a hefty bill of about £200 to cover the recovery of the boat shortly.

Word on the street is they hired from Richardsons - to be fair to them there booking enquiry only asks number of pets not type 🤪👍
That said the symbol for a pet is a dog, not a rabbit so infer from that what you will 🧐

It is quite happy and uses a litter tray (mostly), so quite clean. A lot less trouble than a dog, and doesn't need walks. Plus there is a plentiful supply of dandelion and dock leaves so is easily, and cheaply, fed. I did wonder about two dogs and a rabbit. Do they let the dogs 'see the rabbit?'

My bitch who I named Jetzie was an old English squirrelhound also known as a Battersea dogs home random whippet mongrel thing. Chasing of squirrels in Bushy Park was encouraged. She was my animal for 16 years and died on my lap and pissed on my trousers.
One day I was out walking the dogs with my mum, who had two lurchers, and there was a bloke in the park feeding a squirrel. It was like he had tamed it.
Unfortunately for him Jetzie belted over to the squirrel, killed it then ran off. No retriever that dog but a good killer.
Fortunately for me I was out of sight (it's a known quality) and the random Battersea dogs home whippet mongrel disappeared as fast as she had arrived.
I sometimes feel sorry for the bloke with the squirrel. Not often.

Pissed on trousers is a sort of rite of passage for dog owners, I have had this more than once upon the demise of a favourite pet, one who had liver issues managed the piss followed up by black squit all over me. Couldn't get mad only concerned, a trip to the vet revealed that it was time for the rainbow bridge.

In fact they were actively discouraging people from not going beyond Stokesby when we went a few weeks ago. Of course people are required to read the stuff but if you don't then you deserve the big recovery bill that comes your way when you balls it up.

Documented on the other channel but we made a bad choice of boat that was totally unsuitable for the plunging winter temps we got. It was as draughty as a very draughty thing and the heating was useless. Sleeping fully clothed was not my idea of a holiday. So after three days we took it back got a partial refund and came home. Richardsons did offer to swap us to a better boat but by then we were just fed up and wanted to get home.
