Ha, you fell in the trap there, it was a tasty bit of bait, well done thebfg . Now, who has the TB shotgun at the moment, there's a fox to put out of his misery. Don't go too close, it hasn't had it's jabs, it's a rabid covid carrier. Talking of guns: "Where did Sasha Johnson get shot?" naughtyfox: "In Peckham." Jim: "In the head." Crusty69 is going to have to work a bit harder to steal your funny crown!

I'd like to take back my comment about our elders welcome posts, didn't start to friendly. I got to page 6, 27 is impressive but so hard to follow with all the deleted users. No idea who said what π Bet you're glad I always put my name to my posts π Rog You very rarely make it clear who you're replying to, though, . . you generally avoid clicking on the 'Quote' button. It's been suggested, by several others, that this is a rather sly ruse to always leave you with 'wriggle room' by claiming that the response was actually directed at someone else in the event of the apparent, or presumed, target of your post taking issue with what you say. I'm inclined to think that this is in fact exactly what you're doing. Very slippery, . . but very much in character for someone who habitually distorts or misrepresents the content of posts he's replying to.

Travelled up Atherston locks today . According to the volockies blackboard, yesterday 18 boats completed the lock flight, and today just over 20 (it may have gone up after our transit). The top lock was padlocked and closed at 3.55pm as we came by on our way back to our mooring, with three boats now waiting until morning to go down. I was wondering if padlocking the locks actually saves waterΒ ...Β what do you think ? It certainly condenses boats wishing to transit the locks into a narrow time frame, which will possibly see less locks needing to be turned. It equally willΒ make management of the locks easier, but will it save any water ? Rog My angle on it : Yes,the reservoir levels are low (especially up North) due to the weather. Routine maintenence would help a lot rather than just fire fighting problems when they finally occur. Regards restricting progress through locks. No doubt reducing the amount of traffic through locks will help. If you bang out lots of restrictive notices and tell lockies to pass on information like 'the whole network might have to be shut down soon', it will put people off cruising. My beef about CRT's methods is that they should only apply restrictions where they are genuinely required. For example, the Grand Union has plenty of water at the moment. Until that changes, the GU doesn't need restrictions (despite some lockies apparently trying to employ some).

I quoted thebfg and replied to him Who are these 'several others' who have made suggestions and indeed where are these suggestions being made ? Are you on strong medication ? As has been pointed out by yourself (many times) and occasionally others here, I am a very simple chap and not too bright. Rog

Try not to let him get to you. I realise this might be obvious but he has a forest on his shoulder. Fault finding tendencies arrr a recognised symptom of iron deficiency in the diet. It is possible that TonyDunkley is a vegan.

It's because not every comment is directed at or is referencing you, despite the fact that one or more of your many personality issues tells you otherwise.

Good to see you around too phil70 ... you've been very quiet of late. Hope all's well in your world ? Rog Sadly for me being sans boat I now have a new "master" and Chris has charged me with keeping the garden alive in the face of this extreme weather. So just easing back into things and need to get back in touch with JohnV, and of course Met How are you doing, Flappy? Hope you, Chris, the crew and garden are all thriving x eta - perhaps if the Coate Faerie will allow us to remove the masks and put the lights back on we might be able to catch up soon in the UnStable Bar?
