We had a heated swimming pool just across the lawns from the front of the house on our estate yars ago. The sand filter in the pool hut kept blowing up so after a while the old man decided not to bother with it. Plus of course we couldn't afford to warm it anyway, or the house, or do the roof or any of that sort of irritating nonsense. Nice pile of bricks "one of the lesser country houses of today" but rapidly falling down in our ownership. Is it still standing?

Yes because someone who had shit loads of money bought it off us. Nice house actually. Not all that old (1920s) but much too big for pretend rich people.
We had a proper little estate there but no money to maintain it. Looks nice on google sat view now. Sold in 1986.
House down the bottom of our pony field was where AA Milne lived when he wrote the Winnie the Pooh books.
Gawd.
