Anyone watch/ listen to his speech?
His main theme appeared to be picking the 'good' social aspects of the Union then wishing them to be strengthened/ reformed.
One thing that stood out for me was, when questioned about numbers of EU migrants, that level playing fields should be created across Europe, in terms of wages.
All good stuff.
Back in the real world: As Britain only has one vote within the so called democracy that's the EU, how would this change be effected, especially without the threat of potential exit if change doesn't take place? And suddenly; Poland, Romania, Lithuania and the rest must increase wages to all to match the £25K or so average in the U.K.
Another man, another planet.

The man is a complete and total hypocrite. He has been a lifelong opponent of the eu, he voted against it in the 1975 referendum, he voted against the Maastricht treaty and against the Lisbon treaty, yet as soon as he reaches the halls of power he does the most enormous volte-face because he just isn't going to miss out on the opportunity to ram his tongue up Angela Merkel's back passage.

Headed for annihilation at a Ballot Box near you soon and it breaks my heart to see it. Does not live in the real world, mistake after mistake,I believe John McDonnell is far better and perhaps that is a measure of how bleak it is for Labour.I think the country would agree that a good opposition is essential for democracy to flourish and sadly its not happening at the moment. It was a desire for change that brought Corbyn but sadly Corbyn won't bring that change.

I rather get the idea that it was an orchestrated campaign by grass-roots Conservatives which brought- or rather, bought- Corbyn, as one Conservative supporter said in the comments section of today's Daily Mail online, "best £3 I ever spent"

I'm not with Corbyn on his pro EU stance. The one part of his speech that I picked up on was that he alluded to workers' rights being picked off, if we left the union. Workers' rights have already been shot to pieces, sailed off, well into the distance. As an agency worker, I can tell you, I feel as though I have few rights, and zero hours contracts are a complete screwing up of principled backing of working rights. Agency and zero hours may be good for a few, but create unstable futures for the vast majority, only protecting the employers' rights to convenience.
I don't consider myself to be a racist, but yesterday I had cause to bring up something that caused one English-speaking member of staff some concern. The member of staff is working in a group of Polish people, not a problem. The problem occurs when they continually speak Polish, thus excluding the English-speaking member any chance of reciprocating or engaging in conversation.
I related this to a Polish person working in my section. That person didn't see the problem, and without any prompting, said he didn't anyway like the particular English-speaking person I was referring to. He obviously thought I was attacking Polish people and he had no intention of trying to understand the irony of a group of Polish people excluding an English speaking person from their circle, while of course, he was being made welcome here.

Well, the man of principle didn't last long. Agree with everything posted. Never quite understood the workers rights things. My last but one job I had as a courier I had to sign a piece of paper opting out of the working hours agreement. Although that's a little porky but if I didn't sign I didn't work and at the time needs must
