Thats interesting that Brent has been to Bates boatyard at Bulbourne. Very encouraging except that when the previous owner tried to get me to give him £3500 for it he was a quite forthcoming about the fact there was a lot of rotten wood in it. No mention of any through hulls, skin fittings or other penetrations. Its got steel tingles on it but it is quite a nackered boat which needs a lot of sorting.

Yes but if its actually been to Jem Bates yard which is one of the most respected wooden canal boat yards around perhaps it has had more than a tin of paint? You are probably correct. Eta for example I wonder if the major impact the boat was subjected to on the port bow when attempting to enter limehouse lock was addressed while in the dry dock at Marsworth top lock. Quite a few boats hit the wall attempting to get into Limehouse. Unfortunately this one hit it hard and being an old boat it hurt Thats what the blue tarp in the picture was for. That photo is from at least a year or two ago near Limehouse. In fact I recognise that photo !!

Quite similar to the one you posted earlier with the two 6LWs in it. Teak double diagonal so could be a good boat with any luck.
Eta it is described as teak carvel and diagonal inner planking so not sure if it has the canvas between the two layers of planking. May not actually be double diagonal technically. Not sure.

It's not moved for years, I wouldn't touch with a long shaft. Everybody on the Aire and Calder will know it.

Yes but Rolls Royce marine diesels aren't particularly good.
Gardner's is the Rolls Royce of marine engines.

If you had a vehicle suitable to tow it, that is a heck of a bargain ....... They say the scrap value is 4k but I reckon including gear and the trailer it would break to much more than that. There has obviously been quite a lot of water in her but it doesn't look as if it has been above (or much above) the floor. Providing there is no major hull problems and the flooding was skin fittings/prop shaft/engine cooling system I reckon that could make a smashing project !!!
