Nice (both of them)
Referring to Shelley £40k does seem quite a lot for a 50 year old 60ftx12ft barge needing full conversion to be used as accomodation.
I suppose it has a mooring at the weird and wonderful port st werburgh. I went there a while ago to have a look at a boat
Some of the old girls there are real beasts. Some nice old tugs down there but what an enormous project !!
We passed Rochester on the train today and I spotted an old submarine moored on the mudway. No idea if it was for sale but that -would- make a nice houseboat.

It used to be moored at the Thames Barrier and was open for tourists to visit but then as time went on I think its upkeep became too expensive and it was towed down to Rochester. This was in the mid 90's I think and its been at Rochester ever since unloved and with definate list.

The old dutch Katwijker "Transporteur" at Harefield has been subject to a large price decrease - I think the boatyard owner bought it a few years ago and now wants it to go, having tried to get unrealistic money for it. Now down to £60k. Was nearly double that not so long ago. It is a bit of a beast. I've always liked it and used to live near it in Rickmansworth. Nice Gardner unit in there. I remember when it had a Chonkchonk Kromhout. Apparently that threw itself to pieces one day. Transporteur : m.apolloduck.com/feature.phtml?id=304113

That really is a very pretty litle eye catcher, keeping that lovely varnish in good shape will be quite a lot of work, as a boat like that has to look spotless all the time.
She is surely a beauty to look at, and she will most likely go very nicely through the water, I love a little boat like that, but she'll never be mine.
Peter.

Peter, I really hope to bring my boat across the channel at some stage. To explore some of the amazing waterways on the continent.

Sara is a lovely boat but as Peter said its a significant undertaking to keep it looking good. You just have to blink and it will deteriorate. Ok for a real enthusiast or someone with deep pockets to pay someone else to keep it looking good. Not my kind of boat but it is nice
