Question: Who should get a grip ?
Answer: The weak-kneed, mealy-mouthed Thunderboat members who've slunk off with their tails between their legs to somewhere called TheUnstablebar, . . a forum that's, apparently, so ashamed of its content, and the members posting it, that even non-participating guests are prevented from viewing.
Question: What should they get a grip on ?
Answer: Themselves !

I think they've just gone there to have some respite from your rants, Tony! Somewhere for the old folk to pull up a chair and have a natter. You may be right about exposing the 'crimes' of the waterways' navigation authorities (such as their wastage, inefficiency, and vendettas, etc.) but it's obvious that many don't want to be embroiled in a fight-to-nowhere.
It's no good wailing at the gates. They are not going to let you in. Now, how about putting some effort into creating a brand new waterways forum? There are no hundreds of visitors to this site - if there were, the 'hits' on my YouTube videos would have gone up much more than they have ... and they haven't.
How about: 'The UK Inland Waterways Discussion Forum' ? That's a sensible title.
There's nothing bad about exposing wrongs... but it's usually the case that many simply don't care and don't want to listen. They all pretend it doesn't affect them when it does, but they have enough money to ride it through. "I'm alright, Jack!" they say. Many are scared that bad things will happen to them if they kick up too much of a fuss.

So much for the ideology of 'no moderation and you can say anything here'. The greatest form of moderation online is 'you can't come in here unless I/we say you can'.

I've never posted on the new forum. I don't agree with the principle of controlled entrance. I do have a login. It seems a shame that this forum, which is actually quite cool in that people actually CAN post what they want and it very rarely causes any problems, would produce what is effectively the same as a private facebook group. It just seems wrong but never mind. Such is life. Onwards and upwards.

Tony Dunkley has done the cause of free speech a great disservice by being such an irritating and repetititive post whore.
I know other people are not perfect but it is really all about one person isn't it.
Shame really but there we are.

'No moderation' (limited moderation) on here is still going just as it always has. John has started his own fiefdom and, apparently, you can join if he likes you. You could always create your own forum and ban John if you want to get your own back?! A catchy title could be: 'The Good Riddance Forum'. What do you think?

Actually I'd say Kriss and Stabby's responses have played a significant part in things. But it is what it is.

I've never bothered with facebook but one can imagine quite a lot of tit for tat shit going on with people who despise each other.
Probably good material for some PhD type students. I'm sure it looks like a private group but it isn't is it.

That is true to be fair. I think a lot of people did take offence at the whole "small bean regarder" and "shrub rocketeer" thing between Mr Stabby and Tony Dunkley. Maybe there wasn't enough humour.

Not been to Wales for two years and don't think I've ever been to Flint....
And despite Stabby's attempt to change history, I think the cat I refered to in my now infamous post died 15 months before my post. (Not that that excuses me from what I said).

That sounds almost like contrition? What next an apology?

That sounds almost like contrition? What next an apology? Only if Trina apologises for saying if she ever came across me she would set me alight......
Subject should have been put to bed long ago...
I never mention it unless in response to others.

I don’t think that’s how apologies work. It’s the fact you didn’t apologise, when you had obviously caused hurt, that irritated.
