We were out at the time but this happened just opposite my mooring yesterday afternoon. I am in favour of dangerous dogs being eliminated but a lot of people think the police behaved badly here. Opinions? I'm glad we were not here as it was a bit displeasing although I have been advocating shooting these things recently when talking to the kids about it. Maybe I just managed to manifest this outcome due to my personal energy. I've actually been going on about this a lot recently. Shoot these things. I was talking about it yesterday with relatives. In this particular situation I would have just pushed the buggers in the canal. Impossible for an animal to get out of there. Police may be a bit thick here. This was about 59 yards from my boat. Bouncing bullets could be fun. Sign of trouble I think. news.sky.com/video/met-police-shoot-dead-two-dogs-and-taser-man-in-east-london-12876672

I wonder what the back story is.

There is a better video on twatter where the first dog to get shot drags the other one along the towpath with a streak of blood then the second one gets a slug in the brain.
Bangbang trigger happy.

I wonder what the back story is. A woman reported being attacked by dangerous dog nearby and police came to deal with it. Not sure if she was ever interviewed. Bloke with dogs was well out of his bonce

A bit graphic but this is a clear video here. My boat is just out of picture on the left.

It does seem a bit extreme.

With such a high canal wall it doesn't take a lot of mental energy to work out the best place for the animals.
Odd how this happens just after the new scum get their crowns on.
Sign of things to come ?

Anyone complaining I'd just say OK we will push these dogs in the cut you are welcome to come and help the poor little souls out of the water.
I bet they would all come flocking for animal welfare reasons. Not.

One girl was reported as as saying she thought it was unnecessary the dogs were shot because the dogs were wagging their tails, the implication being the dogs were happy and just wanted to be friends. And bite your leg off.
I feel sorry for the animals; they've been selected for their breed and reared to be aggressive by a twat of the first water who was probably full of glee when they bit someone but seemingly less so when he failed to scarper before the cops turned up.
How many times have any of you encountered someone who clearly delighted in having a scary dog? It seems to be the main reason to own such an animal. This is a nightmare called 'Rise of the Arseholes'. TBH I would ban these breeds.

I don't know that a ban would work.
They breed mongrels which circumvent the bans because they don't have a breed.
I've seen a couple of youth with a pair of 'XL Bully' dogs which are clearly pit bulls but not in fact illegal.
The rise of the arseholes is a good comment. Very sad really. Perhaps this event will help people think more.
It is curious because not long ago a child was mauled by some awful dog in the borough but nothing happened other than a taxi driver hitting it with his baseball bat. No doubt taxi driver was nicked. This time the police came all guns blazing. Literally.
I much prefer bedlington whippets.

There's only one reason for walking around with a pair of aggressive dogs and it isn't because one is hoping to win at Crufts.

Someone has put flowers and no doubt an anti police notice up. I saw a middle aged ordinary looking bloke come with a terrible ugly mutt which was too big to pay his respects. Its sad. Just around the corner there on the main road a motorbike person managed to eliminate himself a few weeks ago and died when colliding with the traffic light crossing fencing while being pursued by the police. Loads of people put notices up saying 'he was innocent' or 'police brutes' or whatever but at the end of the day if you are on a motorbike and the police start a pursuit you stop. You don't go faster and faster because at some stage you will fuck it up and die. Idiots everywhere. I suppose it is inner city so to be expected but this area has some weird curse going on as there are always far more idiots about than anywhere I have ever been. Tower Hamlets. The Arsehole of inner London.
Then there was the mercedes with the lucky driver. Doing about 80mph down the Commercial Road racetrack he lost it and narrowly missed a lamp post by about 6 inches then whacked into an advertising board and avoided ending up in the cut by about a foot, got out of the car and fucked off.
Mad shit.
I'm just waiting for the building site tower crane to fall over now.

My mum had to make the decision to have a dangerous dog put down. TBH from day 1 as a puppy this animal had shown disturbing characteristics and we have had many dogs. She tried very hard with professional input to get this dog under control and with her not was sort of under control. It did used to growl and warn off anyone(even family members) at times. Mum just couldn't 'see' a danger until she ripped another dogs throat open desleeving dads hand in the process... even then took a week for the decision to be made and only after she also went for mums favourite dog Vet couldn't get near her despite her being given oral sedatives and I had to administer an injection with mum holding her. There are too many dangerous dogs and to have one as 'status' is wrong. There will always be folk who shout loudly when a dog is put down... but wonder how many of them have been attacked? I've been bittern .. not nice, one of mums became entangled in wire and when we tried to get her out I was yomped through to the bone and mums hands were shredded. She wasn't viscous so obv didn't have her put down. Its sobering to realise the power in a dog.
