Looks like the annual or is it bi-annual? Breach of the L&L is happening just below Holme lock. Whole pound to bingley is down, locks closed. It looks like if I ever want to cross the Pennines on my boat again I need to do it in the not too distant future.

Pigeons home too roost. Just because the troll is a twat, doesn’t mean crt aren’t blameless. If you stop preventative maintenance then you end up dealing with more major incidents. I wonder if they will try to blame a boater this time?

Where did you see the news kris, not showing in a search. We are considering it as an option for this summer's towpath dumping jolly. Goole next week, cos we've not been yet, maybe towards Sheffield if not round the L&L.

The stoppage covers a big length of the canal so the problem must be significant. Hopefully kris can provide more info.

Especially in the Tinsley area.

An elm plank culvert collapsed again? Had one go in a short pound, one below summit west, on the Rochdale a couple of years ago.

Some of my non posting followers sent me this image of the glug glug Looking at the way its spinning, they've sent that from the Southern hemisphere. That is actually a myth but in any event the myth is that water drains clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere and the water in the photo is clearly draining anti-clockwise. So, just for you...

Whichever sort of culvert is of no matter, . . it's obviously bust, and probably hasn't been checked or inspected at any time during the present Century. Too many office chair polishers and lawyers, . . and nobody walking the lengths regularly and having a listen and a look at the culverts and banks. Just the sort of navigation authority that you and your like deserve.
