Worrying times for stability ... and that's just in the good ol' US of A.
Their credit rating is downgraded with a comment that "lack of good governance over the past 20 years" is responsible.
Trump remains far and away the strongest Republican candidate for the Presidential elections ... this despite ongoing legal action on a variety of fronts.
Polarisation between Democrats and Republicans seems to be at it's worst ever, making even routine administrative issues impossible.
Russia clearly has its hands full at present.
Maybe we need to pin ourselves to China's coat tails for the ride to come.
We live in interesting times.

It is hard to see where the USA is going as besides the numerous charges against Trump, there are many accusations against Biden wherehe is going to have to explain his involvement in his son's actions with Russia and China. The really laughable state is where his son, having pleaded guilty to charges in return for a plea bargain, has now had to plead not guilty to the same charges when the plea bargain was thrown out. i think that the Democrats ( and the american 'civil service') have scored a massive own goal in pursuing Trump on so many fronts, particularly when similar charges can be shown against Biden. Both are too old to be taken seriously anyway. And as for us ...........

Biden is a shambles and half the time does not appear to be aware of things. he's made some terrible gaffes. Trump now is on a crusade of his own but would probably a better leader but nowhere near as effective as he was.

The really scary thing is there are no alternatives to geriatrics or rich kids.
The only real leader I can think of is Vladimir Putin. Obviously at this point he is demonised but he is actually a real leader and not just a puppet.
He knows his shit. Nobody is taking the piss of this one. Are there any other heads of state where this is the case?

Yeah boy! The sooner that Putin bloke gets this war started the better. Because food shortages are just boring. You can't beat a good old-fashioned global thermonuclear exchange to really get things done.

It will be interesting to see how the progress of prosecution of charges against 'the Donald' goes on.
Considering the physical attack on the Whitehouse, an attack on courts by his supporters is not too difficult to imagine.
An American Trump supporter in London was interviewed by Radio 4 and declared that he and other supporters are fully convinced the election was rigged and the result stolen from Trump.
It's difficult to see how and where this process ends.

Can Trump run for prez if he is under investigation? I would suppose so, innocent before conviction etc. So a lot will depend on how quickly any trial may get under way and these things are never quick, and since it will happen early in November 2024 that's only 15 months away...
Election night will be, erm, interesting. Make America Crazy Again!

Apparently he can run even if he has a conviction !
My fear is more what his supporters will do ... what's the point of any election if you simply refuse to accept the result.
Not forgetting the USA are supposed to be the superpower that guarantees stability and world peace ... innit bro'

Without a doubt either way major shit is going to go down.
It seems to me unlikely that the Ukraine situation will be concluded, and Trump has a record of getting cozy with Pootin.

Election result investigation is nothing new in the U.S. Bush did the same, iirc, in Florida, but being as he won, his appointees in the justice department raised no gripes. There is plenty of election fraud in this country, and as long as elections are made 'easy' with postal votes and no cohesion with people with two addresses like students, it won't get much better. Diversity has brought many things to this country, and I'm sorry to say that I think the attitude towards these practices is one of the worst. Sadly, no one in Government, either local or national seems to want to do anything about it and it is left to the press to expose such practice.

I don't recall anyone storming the seat of government in the UK.
Even slightly narrow referendum results (Scots independence; Brexit) were accepted.
Democracy fails if results are not accepted.
