The funding hasn’t been cut, it has in fact been extended. CRT will still fuck it all up through sheer incompetence and stupidity.

Anyone else checked out the fairy tale entitled "Winter Stoppage Programme 2023/24"?
I've actually used many very parlous locks this year which STILL do not make even a cameo appearance ......

Oddly enough I was just looking at the stoppage list.
Looks like the GU upto Napton is closed until March, so we'll have to head up Hatton and maybe into Birmingham ... needs a bit more planning but it is only mid August and things will be changed no doubt.
It is easier for us because we have a firm start point and then are simply plotting routes out from there in any direction remaining open.

Rog Trouble is, dogless , much of it is fantasy and never happens. I know of two boaters last winter who made great efforts to be the "right" side of stoppages - only to receive a "Stoppage Notice" on the day it was due to be completed (YES, not the date scheduled for it to start, which might have been useful!) to inform us it had been cancelled! I used to be able to plan my winter cruising around that but now I just cross my fingers, keep going in whatever direction my boat happens to be pointing in the morning and hope for the best ... I, too, am extremely fortunate in that I have no agenda or need to be anywhere in particular.
