Just for anyone interested, you can now view your boat sightings when viewing your license page on the CRT website.
Some interesting info on mine... Should be able to work out a very relaxed CCing schedule if I wish to give up my mooring.......

How very Machiavellian

Just paint your boat in dazzle camouflage. They'll never spot you.

Or put another boat's name and number on it.

Even better, just vary the cammo pattern from time to time.

I recently sent off for my data, took about a month to arrive, will be good to see real time updates. I was interested in seeing what day the data collector came by some of our regular mooring spots out east, eg Castleford.

Thanks fi ... worth knowing even though I know where we've been 😁 But you've got to look once you know haven't you. Only 5 sightings all year. Doesn't really tell the full story. Rog

Thanks for that fi. Just had a look.... quite entertaining! Seems there are many areas never checked - that's how the overstayers get away with it then

Just 4 sightings for us this year, 2 were in the marina. This despite doing the Stourbridge ring, followed a few weeks later by our long trip Fazeley to Northampton (before departing CRT waters) via MK - sightings on the Cov and at Stoke Bruerne. Nothing at all for return journey from Northampton to Fazeley.

Rog The first year I owned the boat I went to Llangollen and back and was only spotted once (at Wrenbury). I then did the Warwickshire Ring and wasn't spotted at all. This year I have gone six weeks without being logged, and I have been logged twice in three days.

The service will not be available until they've sorted it. You think?

CRT have turned the facility off! Couldn't make it up.... Never mind, it was worth logging in again to make me realise I can cash in the gold licence we changed to in July, and revert to standard canal and river licence, and they give me £63!

We've done all, or some part of the Grand Union, North Oxford, Coventry, Trent and Mersey, Staffs and Worcester, Shropshire Union, Macclesfield, Birmingham and Fazeley, and South Oxford canals since April this year.
Our five recorded sightings were for coded locations on the Trent and Mersey and Macclesfield canals only.
It doesn't inspire confidence in the process.
I'll stick with recording contemporaneous notes, corroborated by receipts etc. in my daily log. I can prove my movements whether C&RT can or not.
