owned equally by crt and the ea. I think it’s pretty obvious. OK, let me put it another way.
If the BSS was cancelled would CRT and the EA lose money, or gain money, or neither.
Thats nonsense. Crt and the ea get paid a percentage of every saftety test carried out.

I thought the BS Scheme became a self funding entity a number of yars ago.
It does say owned by the EA and CRT on the website.
I guess the Broads Authority have to pay for it somehow.

According to a leading canal boating expert, the BSS is optional anyway.

Is it just me or does everyone get a sense of foreboding the day before the exam ? Our boat was built three years before the introduction of the BSS in 1996 so it always feels to be a bit of a 'square peg in a round hole'. It's odd because I never worry about an MOT test on a car. Roll the dice and we'll see what we see I suppose. Rog I know what you mean, dogless. There does seem some strange emotional involvement in the BSS which is definitely not there for an MOT. I put it down to it being my home and therefore anything "wrong" could be a big issue but that still doesn't justify the trepidation - especially knowing everything is OK precisely because it IS my home..... Passed OK last year - only advisory was my bubble tester had come loose in the locker - the BSS man offered for him or his son to fix that for me when I next passed their place if I had trouble (replacing a bracket/screw). Glad everything went well for you in your pre-BSS
