I buried 59 grands worth of gold coins in 2001 but I can't remember where. 2001 values.
There are several possible sites. One was by a 5 bar gate and the other was close to some brambles.
I'm wondering if there might be 'remote worker' volunteers who could dig sites for me. I will provide spades. We could keep in touch via text or IM and if you find the gold I'll give you ten percent of the value in cash.
I buried it about 3ft deep under a layer of steel nails to defeat metal detectorists.
I'm looking at 10 potential sites.
Anyone ?

Metal detectors have discriminator circuits which 'tune out' small iron and steel items.
What people don't know is that the signal is still generated and floods the circuit anyway. Its just that the operator hears no noise because of the discriminator circuit knocking it out. The ferrous is still detected it just doesn't bleep.
Put a gold coin under a nail and the metal detector won't see it.

The old Compass 100Khz detectors can see through nails but they don't have a lot of depth.
Discriminator metal detectors is a marketing problem.
Of course if someone were to dig every single signal they get then they'll find the gold but they would be spending their whole time digging and probably give up when they find it is just nails.

Interesting approach but you obviously have not done much metal detectoring. Steel nails are everywhere.
It is almost impossible to escape from them particularly in the areas where I think I buried the gold.
The ten percent is in 2024 prices.

Donated it to the IDF.

Was that not someone else's gold?

Was that not someone else's gold? Dunno, finders keepers innit. Anyway, Mr silver has it now.

No, none of the stuff I buried could be detected by even the most sophisticated metal detector, I just drew maps, took measurements and marked trees. I dug some up last year and it was exactly where I expected it to be. Biggest problem I had was cashing in Winston Churchill £5 notes in a large amount without arousing suspicion but I gave them the dead Auntie story and amazingly they bought it.

I'm now offering 20 percent. 79:20:1 for those with difficult math skills.

I'm now offering 20 percent. 79:20:1 for those with difficult math skills. Correct me if I’m wrong but 20% of sweet fa works out at a big fat nothing?
