I watched a interesting programme about the unabomber recently. Whilst I’m not condoning his tactics of blowing people up to get attention for his views. If you read his manifesto “industrial society and its future,” that was published in the press, there is a lot of truth in it. In fact If you replace his use of the word “leftism,” with wokery it’s amazing how he predicted the course society has taken, 30 years ago. It seems alot of his anger towards the world stems from his treatment he received at Harvard as a student. He was part of a cia funded reasearch project mk ultra. This was research into the possible brain washing of people. The participants of which where subjected to quite brutal experiments. It struck me how America is very good at creating its own worst enemies. Osman bin laden being another example of how America creates its own oponnents. Anyway for anyone who is interested here’s a link to his manifesto. www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/national/longterm/unabomber/manifesto.text.htm

The funny thing is Andy, there’s statements in the “ industrial society and it’s future.” that you could have written on thunderboat, in fact that express exactly the same opinions as a few people on here have expressed. I suppose the difference is how people act on those opinions.

Here is just one example to illustrate the point. A few people on here have expressed views very similar to the ones expressed in this excerpt from his manifesto.
“Those who are most sensitive about “politically incorrect” terminology are not the average black ghetto- dweller, Asian immigrant, abused woman or disabled person, but a minority of activists, many of whom do not even belong to any “oppressed” group but come from privileged strata of society. Political correctness has its stronghold among university professors, who have secure employment with comfortable salaries, and the majority of whom are heterosexual white males from middle- to upper-middle-class families.”
Anyway as I say I find it interesting that America creates its own enemies.

But the bit about how computers spell doom for free society seems quite prescient. Decades before the digital revolution. Seems he forgot a few things though, like how you can't un-invent something. And also how killing people is frowned on. Oh well. Also it's kind of ironic that fucknuggets everywhere want to tell everyone about what they have planned, especially one inspired by Ted, and then using the interweb to go on about it. Just goes to show that Big brother really is watching. I wonder how long he was under surveillance.

Your right there are gaping holes in kacsynskis philosophy and I’m not in anyway condoning his actions. I find it interesting that without him being subjected to cia funded experiments, he probably would have never killed any one. And as I say if you replaced his use of “leftism,” with wokery how similar some of his views are to opinions exspressed on here.

The middle classes certainly are a problem in this regard. Terribly irritating in a number of different ways. One can observe also that people from upper class backgrounds and with associated values tend not to have issues with feeling the need to be politically correct or support so called downtrodden minorities from a position of privilege. The Ted geyser seems to bave been a bit of a nutter in general. My mother was interestwd by this person. Not a fan but interested and used to refer to him occasionally.

Maybe, maybe not. But the MKUltra thing does seem to have been excessively brutal; I've met a few who were psychotic following their own personal 'experiments' and most folks were generally nice to them despite the odd behaviour.

Although one very good reason for it is that they had a decent education and were or are often fairly bright to start with.

It is remarkable how different I am from my younger sister. Same parent (single mother) but younger sister went through state school whereas I was sent to a well regarded private school. Maybe it does make a difference. The sister has a normal life, is acrually rather PC and not sweary, has acquired a middle class husband and they have ordinary jobs and read the Guardian. It was funny to discover that until I told her what infra dig means she thought it meant 'in for a dig'. This was last yar. She is 45 yars old. straight A gcse and A levels. No dunce. School eh?

He wasn’t given LSD or any other drugs. The experiments he was subjected to seem to have been about trying to tear people down by attacking their beliefs verbally over a period of time. He was a subject every week for three years. They also seem to have deliberately targeted vulnerable people and used those vulnerabilities against them. Anyway it’s something different to talk about.

Being the inheritor of more than a pile of cash doesn't help much either. Still, interesting to know it's not a certainty 😁

The Murray experiments at Harvard have been quite well documented.

I'm up to paragraph 59. 'leftism' isn't a term used much in Britain but you could replace this with our social liberal status quo.
The guy is certainly one pure bred libertarian with a decent ability to rationalise his ideas.
