Who would have thought that punitive measures on landlords, resulting in many exiting the market, record levels of migration together with stagnant levels of house building might have resulted in such a thing? www.bbc.com/news/business-68338400

It's in the interests of both the Conservatives and Labour to allow the status quo to continue which is why they are both so keen on immigration. Thunderboat's very own private scumlord is a huge advocate of this because it lines his pockets.

Ah yes but he's a caring, sharing type of landlord. That's different.

In Wales the new regulations are weighted so heavily in favour of the tenant that landlords are selling up in droves. If it wasn’t for punitive CGT I would be joining them.

Expect a worsening of the rental crisis in Wales. As if offering to be a 'super host' for Ukrainians, with no thought given as to how they may be accommodated wasn't enough, they gain lots of populist applause by making things as difficult as possible for buy to let landlords. It's almost as if Labour wish to deliberately create an environment in which rents are unaffordable.
Maybe a good chunk of Labour politicians and supporters are buy to let landlords?
Worry not though. Doubtless Labour, once in power, having shaken off the need to pretend to be the 'new Tories' can set about proper socialist policy, in order to prevent this daylight robbery. Rent controls, that should do it. Further restrict the availability of properties to let that is. It will be nice for hard working families with children to once again be able to afford to rent, with excellent security of tenure. If there were anywhere available to rent, that is. Mind, Labour will have stopped the boats by 'cracking down' on the criminal gangs so there will be lots of 4 star hotel accommodation going free.

It is probably time that the word 'landlord' was changed to a more neutral term.
Most people who own other property and rent it out are far from being lords. The word 'landlord' in itself feeds the problematic greed instinct and creates situations where mere plebs believe erroneously that by causing others to pay them to live in a shelter they have elevated their social position.
This can not happen. Obviously for a number of different reasons certain types of government will tend to encourage this sort of outcome but if the wogs end up buying too many houses and renting them out then herr Sunak will see that it is not encouraged.

So much for right wing capitalism. Yet the socialist clown keeps a 250k pa social enterprise going for 35 years while not expecting top whack from the tenants in well cared for properties. Maybe it's karma😉

We know it scratches at your conscience. By the way, one of the tricks in being successful at making money, balanced against other personal ambitions is to go in at the right time, and withdraw at the right time. You don't have to keep flogging that same dead horse. Change is your friend, not your enemy. Not that you'd be interested in any of that, of course.

Someone told me about a situation where a friend got a Boat and acquired a mooring beside a field. Nice enough arrangement very rural.
One day the farmer came with a tractor and machinery and all the mice fled from the field onto the Boat where they started to chew the electrical wiring. This caused a fire and the Boat burned to the waterline leaving nothing worth salvaging.
Mice eh?
I bet they soon fucked off again once they realised the Boat was on fire !

That is indeed tough luck.
And the moral of the story is, er, electrickery is bad. Very bad.
Or maybe have a mouse-proof boat.
