I'm one of seven kids ... three girls and four boys , born and raised on a pit estate in South Yorkshire. I went to local mixed state schools. None of which alters the simple fact that the ladies WERE treated unfairly and this simply injustice could have been avoided by good communication. Rog WERE? Who says? It is just someone’s opinion. For decades women had an unfair advantage in that they got their state pension 5 years before men, despite the fact that life expectancy for women was considerably greater than for men. This unfairness was addressed. At the time I recall it being in the news a lot and (spoiler) I am not a woman and thus didn’t have a particular interest in the topic. So people who claim they knew nothing, were either Spanish or pretending.

What’s the difference between a modern feminist and an old fashioned one? Asking for a friend

Rog Nobody disputes that a report has been produced. What's being disputed is the conclusion. Also, the fact that the body who reached the conclusion have no authority to order anything. You appear to be treating the broadcasting of the conclusion by the Parliamentary Ombudsman as akin to a proclamation from God.

Nope ... just discussing the fact that an independent investigation was invited and its recommendations published.
I accept there was injustice in the handling of the pension changes, as the report identifies.
I still don't see any party paying compensation.
I think that's basically the points I have made.

Was it worth the challenge if you don't know ? But sorry if my language upset you.

I think many of the people I know (including my mother) would object to Ladies and Men being used as the way you have done - and yes it isn't so far away from using the term Girls. Just my opinion though.

Was it worth the challenge if you don't know ? But sorry if my language upset you. It's widely known that 'ladies' isn't appropriate these days. 'Women' is the perfect alternative and will never cause offense. It's suprising that you, as a feminist yourself, aren't aware of this.

Girls is demeaning when relating to adult females is the perceived wisdom ... like using boys when talking about adult males.
I can see the issue there.
Apologies to your mother if my use of ladies and women offends her, but I'm not in control of her feelings.
