Cheer up, they don't accept residential boaters. Also I suspect the boats in the pic may not be actual boats. This film will give you the creeps π m.imdb.com/title/tt8368406/

They just seem like investment schemes to extract as much money out of people as possible.

I never visited but he used to comment on how shit the whole area around there is.

. They just seem like investment schemes to extract as much money out of people as possible. Well they are just businesses not something people do for fun. Some of the bigger marinas are owned by large leisure companies like Ting Dene. Their only aim is to maximise profits. I've only spent one night in a marina in my life and this was because of tides. Not my bag.

No the marina was ok but some of the general environs are rubbish. To be fair I think he meant further in towards London on the river Lea. Pikey slums.

I would find it really depressing having someone else's Boat immediately beside blocking the view.
Although Limehouse cut was very depressing at least there were coots and water as a view then flats and more flats and some flats.
Odd to be out of there after 11 yars. Its the place where I have stayed for the longest in my life.

As a business, marinas are offering a service that many people want. A relatively secure mooring with a presence to deter unwanted attention. Some custodial care in the event of weather disturbances. Safe parking when out cruising. some social space for good weather lazing about if you don't want to go far. I can understand liveaboards who don't want uninhabited boats permanently alongside just as I can understand a leisure boater who does not want to be among permanently occupied boats with the attendant noise, disturbance and smoke and soot. Each to his own.
