Just make it 10mph then. Save 5 more lives. A cynical view. I think you don't want to be limited, you really are for 40% more collisions. 6 to 10 lives lost. 1,200 to 2,000 people injured than now ? Be upfront about it, open about the consequences of your whim. 6 to 10 lives lost eh. In a population of 3.1M. That's like trying to resolve a pay issue by offering someone on £20K an extra 4 to 7 pence a year. It's the will of the people which has resulted in the Welsh Labour capitulation. I know you don't have much time for such things. I'm all for speed limits by the way. They need to be set by local authorities. They are best placed to have the knowledge required to enable an appropriate limit. The limits do need to be appropriate. If they are too high, too many accidents will result. If they are too low, they will be routinely ignored by many. Very obviously, the limit needs to be lower outside a school or hospital than on a normal residential street.

Reading this, I reckon so. I wonder if the likes of Jim will now accept that it was a really stupid idea, that should never have gone further than the wet dreams of a huddle of large government totalitarians. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-politics-68838440The likes of me don't have a problem with it, been to Wales a few times since it came in, just stuck to 2nd gear where it applies. What's the rush? I’ve been to Wales a few times since it came in as well. I think I may have broken the law a few times, but I’m not sure 😊

Talking of increases in booze prices the SNP plan to increase the minimum unit price of alcohol in Scotland from 50p to 65p. This follows an increase in alcohol related deaths since 2021 in Scotland which matches the increase in England, where there is no minimum unit price. I had this in mind when I posted earlier. £6 plus minimum for a bottle of red. The sellers are bound to see the chance to bump up the wines currently selling for above the minimum so it’s basically a couple of quid a bottle increase. I may have to rethink my plan to vote Labour.

If you don't fancy voting Tory you could always vote for a lunatic party which has no chance of being elected. That's what I'll do. Plaid Cymru, in my case.

It’s a dilemma for sure, I hate the current government, though not necessarily the party in general. But then we are left in reality with just Labour. I agree with some of their policies, but like the Tories some of them are mad. I may just go boating.

Just now I can't see any meaningful difference between Labour and Conservative. I'm confident though that Labour, once ensconced will mirror Welsh Labour. That is, increase the presence of government in people's lives. I'll suggest that's the only meaningful difference really. I don't think Labour will hit folk with a load of tax increases. This is why I'll vote for any party but Labour. It just happens that in my constituency Plaid hold the seat, Labour stand a chance of gaining it. Probably not after recent big government debacles in Wales, but my vote for Plaid is a valuable one.

Welsh Labour, previously having lied have now put their hands up up and admitted that the default 20mph limit was a mistake. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-68859568Soviet style big government 'we know what's best for you' Labour, coming to Westminster soon.
