John Dodwell has just circulated his latest speech as a CaRT trustee. Pity he has not utilised a spell checker, because it reads as though the ‘partnerships’ are compromising the local people who are bringing their expertise to CaRT. Some interesting details though, and he makes a stab at explaining the financial aspects [which are not my thing at all]. He has a section on boats without home moorings, and gives a figure of “ about 40 boats” being seized since April 1st this year, 24 cases of which are in Shoosmiths’ hands. Apparently this is improving the situation no end – “ I think we can now say that the position is a lot better than it was.” There is a lot of interesting illustrated detail on repair and maintenance work. I have no idea whether the speech comes as a link or this is somewhere on my laptop – app.box.com/s/jvl7e7lwutmdvyvpz6ez7wejmspfzu81

The bit on Boats without home moorings does come across as 'holier than thou' to me. Initial thoughts but it does seem 'establishment are right, all others are wrong' thought process.

Interesting report with a good overview and reasonable easyreading for the uninitiated.
Had a little chuckle over one statement 'the local waterway manager, has made a conscious effort to run the Macclesfield/upper Peak Forest at a slightly higher level in order to improve navigability' The levels are sometimes known to be down by 2 or 3 inches and all that has happened is they are at a normal level for a change.

Jenlyn has posted the full text under a slightly different heading, for those who are happy to read without clicking links for the pretty pictures.

Ah - but it was useful to have the text on here I would have thought? The copy and paste was a mess Nigel. Probably better to just follow your link.
