So what do you think C&RT are looking to introduce on the back of this licensing review? Obviously increased fees for wide beams seems the flavour of the moment. Any other obvious 'stalking horse' bids? Rog Regional licensing? Some places are massively more popular than others (housing issue basically). Charge people more on a supply and demand basis? No idea if its possible to do that but it does seem somewhat of a no brainer. I hope it doesn't happen as both my boats are based in London where demand outstrips supply quite severely !

Les etheridge and Gren Messham were lobbying for this in every meeting since 2014. It's nothing to do with boat owners moaning, it's all iwa and awcc, of whom the latter, Parry is a member of. Individuals can not be members of AWCC, it is an association of boat clubs. Bullshit.

I think he's trying to say ask peeps what they want rather than tell them. Strung out with flowery bullshit. Of course having asked, the idea is to facilitate the answer, but somehow I suspect it will be a case of cherry picking answers that agree with CRT's plans.

I was on their website. I may of missed one word out. The mention of individual membership was talking of affiliated clubs members, not theirs. Maybe parry is involved in a different capacity?

I don't know if it's flowery bullshit, because the 7 year olds on my bus said this, this afternoon:
“Foxy has made a huge contribution to our thinking and practice. And his generosity with his time and expertise will always be appreciated.”
“Foxy's a truly great facilitator, balancing gravitas with a human touch. He demands your attention and takes you on often life changing journeys.” (from home to school and back!) “Foxy has that rare gift of being able to balance a deep understanding of his subject – whilst always prioritising practical on the ground impact.”

Just to placate Loddon, and stop him being a pedantic pillock, Parry is a member of awcc through one of the cruising clubs. This of course gives him a membership card from awcc.

So what do you think C&RT are looking to introduce on the back of this licensing review? Obviously increased fees for wide beams seems the flavour of the moment. Any other obvious 'stalking horse' bids? Rog In my opinion it goes like this Widebeams Boats with out home moorings Roving traders Hire boats Trip boats Will all get direct increases in liscence fees. Then the discounts for historic boats and unpowered craft will go. This will be mixed with a big dose of liscence T&C's over rule the statutes. They might even try to get rid of the pleasure boat certificate. The only good thing I can see about this is its a broad base of boaters that are going to be effected, so as long as they can put aside their differences then there is a chance. With a bit of luck Crt managment will get hung on their own petard.

I read in one of the free papers today, that the EA are suggesting they may have to close the Nene to navigation because of lack of maintenance funds. I'm sure it's no coincidence that this is raised, just as the EA are looking to pass responsibilities to C&RT. There's a lot of political shenanigans going on I feel, with a view to getting increased funding. The licence review is perhaps just one prong of the strategy. Whatever happens........I bet we have to pay more Rog

As long as their stomachs are full and they are inebriated with cheap alcohol they will not rise up against their masters. Gotta love Stella MaCartney's hit and run in the News today eh? Laws for the rich, laws for the poor.

I can't see much about licencing that they can legally change without the consent of Parliament except the cost, as we found out before, they can create sub categories of licences but cannot charge more than a pleasure boat licence for any of them, wouldn't a more expensive wide beam licence category be illegal ?

As are many others including me. Many clubs don't actually use the AWCC membership cards prefering to use their own cards. Nice to see facts in a reply from you rather than abuse, it does you credit.
