I'd chuck one of my 5 anchors at them.

It's fairly simple to understand. If somebody who has already threatened violence towards one of my children attempts to carry out that threat then there is no limit to the violence I will use in order to prevent that from happening, and I think any decent parent would take the exact same approach. So what does the current arsenal of a sociopathic narrowboating 'Equaliser' consist of? We know from CWDF that a hammer, or possibly a wheel brace ' does the business' in Calais, what's your narrowboat weapon of choice for dealing with aggressive local chavs smoking and 'offering you out?' Hammer? mooring spike? Windless? Frying pan? Dogshit in a bag ? The list appears somewhat endless! Every boater needs a sharp knife, for cutting things off of the propeller, officer.

I'd also consider inviting them to have a look at some of my magnet finds and explain that I'm a suicidal sociopath who's run out of medication ! Attachments:

Hmm fully armed and ready for battle, even got the wagon tie down ready for trussing up and disposing of the body in the cut huh? You're definately a believer in the philosophy of the 6 P's... 'proper preparation prevents piss poor performance! Impressed isnt isn't the word! 😉

I think mr snot gobbler might be a bit dissapointed by the canal out of leeds.ive been up and down it a few times and never had any hassle. Didn't even need to go in convoy. I think people are enjoying winding him up.

I think people are enjoying winding him up. That is the advice I've been given by a few boaters, and as I have over a week to get to Skipton I will probably see if anybody else turns up when I'm in Leeds, if nothing else because broad locks are easier with two boats than one, and a lot less work than single handing through them.

Oh there's an advantage to partnering up with another boat. But it's not to make a convoy through the "badlands."

Came out of Leeds early morning but my wife became sick during the morning ....... not a particularly nice area but early morning meant no scrotes. Because of the wife I was travelling exceedingly slowly so quite early in the day I found a refuge mooring for overnight at a small marina just below bridge 224. If we had been both fit or even if I did not have to divide my time between the boat and the wife it should be possible to get past the rougher bits quite quickly. An early start from there (the wife still poorly) I pushed on to Rodley visitors moorings arriving before lunch. Although there were several places before that seemed ok, I needed access to road and public transport so that I could go and pick up the car to collect my wife and take her home. The boat sat on the visitors moorings for about 3 weeks (with permission from BW) in perfect safety. After I picked up Shapfell again the van sat in the road by the moorings for the next few weeks, again safely (although I confess it was the sort of vehicle a self respecting car thief would not have been seen dead in).

I thought it was going to be a good thread about weapons on boats but it seems to have died down. My ditching spade is quite a handy bit of gear

Most people aren't stupid enough to discuss such matters on a public forum.

Fair enough. I'll add a photo of the other side of the hand grenade so nobody gets the rozzers out looking for me Attachments:

Most people aren't stupid enough to discuss such matters on a public forum. It's perfectly legal to carry boating equipment on a boat. It's equally legal to use it in self defence if attacked. It's not like I've posted photos of my shotgun or anything.
