Most people aren't stupid enough to discuss such matters on a public forum. It's perfectly legal to carry boating equipment on a boat. It's equally legal to use it in self defence if attacked. The self defence claim wouldn't hold up very well when the police investigating find this in your internet history... I have had a lifelong ambition to kill some yobbo scum with a knife and all I need is an excuse to do it.

It doesn't matter what I've posted on the internet, the moment somebody comes aboard my boat with the intention of assaulting either myself or, more importantly, my son, then they have automatically forfeited the right to go about their business without let or hindrance. If they choose to allow me to animate a personal fantasy, then nobody held a gun against their head and forced them to do it.

Delta9 set up this forum and took a risk in doing so. As I understand it Delta has a legal liability if the content of this forum goes astray. Potentialy it could get shut down or get pulled by the site owner(!). So, if you want this forum to survive, put yourself in Delta9's position before hitting the post button. On the other hand, maybe some people don't want it to survive. :/

I would not like to see this forum go down the pan..

It would be a pity to think that the Police or other 'authorities' have nothing better to do than to trawl through what is essentially a boating forum, whilst wiping their eyes of tears of laughter, and then suddenly stopping and saying: "Hold on, this is beginning to look a bit shirty, let's take action".... instead of actually getting themselves to Newton Heath and outer Leeds and sorting the real problem out.
If the authorities were 'into' Thunderboat (hopefully from the beginning a year ago) then they would soon see what's what and know that there's "nothing to see here".
The Police would probably be much more flexible and not be so closely patrolling the Internet if real terrorist attacks (and other crimes) did not occur. I think we have these people to blame for making us having to look over our shoulders.
So - a message to 'those in charge' reading this - off to Newton Heath and the rougher areas of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal with you - and make those parts of the country safe for people just wanting to remain unmugged, unraped, unmurdered and wanting not to have to replace their boat windows.

What we need is a resident dibble, plod, flatfoot, bizzie, or whatever they are called these days, to advise us and watch over us. Like they do on CWDF.

in case you hadn't noticed Yorkshire is a bit Cunty. Rooms in Leeds Travelodge for just £34.99/night !! What has that got to do with making the distance any less? whilst I would be happy to travel over an hour and a half to meet and help lots of people on here and indeed CWDF there are some who it would to me be a pretty pointless exercise. Happening to bump into somebody if you were in the vicinity would be completely different.

I suppose the problem is that we all have a different opinion as to whether a post is close to the wire or not. I'm just saying that it might be wise to consider Delta9's feelings as he could pull the site any time, legal or not.

But meantime, if you get some £1 coins out of your pocket, you will find some which have "Nemo me impune lacessit" inscribed around the rim, and this is Latin for "Come anywhere near my boat you cunt and I will stab you" , and if the sentiment is good enough for the Queen's currency, then it's good enough for me.

Maybe you should inscribe that on your boat. On the other hand I doubt the average little scroat studies latin these days..
