As the writing is small I copied it and zoomed in - but the writing is blurred. I like the kitchen at the back - it's all there what you need whilst driving the boat. No muddy boots need to stomp through a bedroom. Is there a wood/coal stove? One of my favourite things about boating is smoke coming out of the chimney.

I have it hosted on my blogger site and I think that reduces the resolution. Can I post a pic from Flickr? i aminterested on thoughts about the window / side hatch positions yes to a stove back to back with the shower

If T is for toilet, anyone in bed can't go to the kitchen for a cup of cocoa until the way through is clear. They could go via the towpath I suppose We don't have a sink in our bathroom, I think it's quite OK to brush one's teeth in the shower.

The idea with the beds is they slide out to make a double at night but slide back for walkway in the day. Breakfast bar when just two of us but fold up table to make room for 4. Like I said this is my first thoughts so any advice is welcome.

Where is the place for overnight visitors is my only comment. Presumably in the big space between the stove and the kitchen - on the floor on mattresses? We were lucky with our boat, we liked it when we borrowed it, and we still think it's cosy. Any design faults can be blamed on someone else I'd be hopeless at designing something - but you can find things that are good, and pinch the idea. I don't know why it's trendy to have stone surfaces in kitchens - heavy, expensive, cold to the touch, and stone DOES soak oil in. When we bought our pine bed and built it up, we found that the legs were far too short - so I bought 10 bricks and raised it (4 legs and one wooden stick in the middle) by 2 bricks high. That was my stroke of genius

I think I'd want to avoid remaking the bed every day, storing duvet, sheet, pillows. Also once stored it can't get an airing during the day. Otherwise, I like it.
Edit to add, you could have the front door to one side and a permanent double?

I wouldn't go with the bed that splits in two like that, they are a pain as you have to completely remove the bed sheets to split them. If you are under 6ft I would replace that with a cross bed and have the front door over to one side. Cross beds are easier/quicker to make up and down than split beds. If you're over 6ft have a permanent lengthways double to one side with the front door on the other and then you won't have to make up and down the bed constantly. There is reson that you don't see many boats with double beds that split down the middle, they aren't all that practical.
I don't like walkthrough bathrooms so I'd bin that. What type of toilet is that? If it's cassette your design will mean that you have to remove the cassette via the wardrobe. If it's a pumpout, where is the tank going?
I'd also move the stove to one side of the boat, preferably the left. I don't think narrowboats are wide enough to have a centrally located stove and staring at the central chimney would hack me off.
