If it was arson then it would involve something more flammable than just a fridge in a kitchen. Possible multiple ignition points. I think it could make a difference to some people if this proved to be a deliberate plan to burn out the whole building. As I have already told you my sensitive work as a consultant with the home office and MI6 - who are currently involved in this btw - makes it impossible for me to go into more detail on this particular incident. For detail you will have to rely on the media over the next days and weeks. I was the first onto the balcony during the Iranian embassy siege and even with the incendiary devices we had, we only managed to partially set fire to the place. It's great they employed you on that job, what with the disabling shrapnel wounds you picked up in Nam. Roll on disabled rights and equal ops.

The BBC are reporting that the core of the cladding panels fitted to the block contain a material that should not be used on buildings higher than 18 meters.
I sense some very long jail sentences in the pipeline for someone ..........

If what they are reporting is a fact then there will be many experts who are wrong.

You do wonder how the authorities might identify all the victims when a/ many of them didn't have tenancy agreements to live there and b/ quite possibly, some of them had no right to live in Britain. I agree Ricco My sister works for the council and she said it should be easy to work out who is missing from tenancy agreements, council tax, and school lists. She then said none of that accounts for illegal sub letting which will get very interesting when its investigated

That's a bit of a leap! You know this do you or just making it up to suit your anti immigration stance? Don't get me wrong, immigration has been out of control and damaging, but jumping to conclusions casts doubt on anything else you say.

So you are saying that nobody has ever smuggled themselves into the UK in an articulated lorry on the Calais-Dover ferry, and then stayed off of the authorities' radar? Where have you been for the last 20 years?

And the top floors of tower blocks is highly likely to be where these people end up. If I was eligible for council accommodation (I'm not) and I was awarded a flat at the top of a tower block I would be very tempted to sublet it and live somewhere nicer myself. If someone wants to put a family of 4 in a 1 bed flat so what? As it is illegal to do this there is by definition no paper trail.
For clarity I would not do this personally but I could see it happening.
Its grim but I suspect the only way to ascertain the true situation would be to sieve every single gram of the wreckage and count how many teeth there are. Even then it would be impossible to determine as some people have missing teeth anyway and the time taken to do this would be too long as they will want to dismantle the building and put something else there asap.

I'm not eligible for council accommodation either, because I'm English and I've worked and paid taxes for the whole of my working life rather than rocking up five minutes ago with the rest of the tribe. I may have to attempt to claim benefits soon due to potentially terminal ill health and I know I will have the fight of my life to get Β£73 a week JSA, let alone a council flat. Serves me right for being white I suppose.

Fortunately there do not appear to be too many wogs competing for residential moorings.
