I think it was the oil field fire fighter Red Adair who famously said, "If you think that it's expensive to hire professionals, wait until you've hired an amateur".
But I await the outcome with interest. You seem very confident which I think can be half the battle.

I feel I'm gaining on it and it was broken so I have nothing to loose? When it does start, with the 1/2 cup of clinker removed it's going to be more efficient and it will work because I'll keep messing until it does. 👍

I should have the part number at work for the plug only, normally you get it with a new burner.

I couldn't read on your pics, they won't magnify on my phone, or I'm a phone dunderhead. My bits came today with the same instructions so I've only just read it for the first time. I'd guess stage 3 is a get out clause to avoid responsibility for over-enthusiastic gauze cleaning? It's raining now, but when it stops I'll be getting on with it.

To grab a picture onto your phone so you can zoom in press and hold on the image, select save image and it will go into your download file.
I carefully scraped mine, and its been fine 👍🍻⚓🚢
